CoLight Aux Lights - Fitting & Thoughts

Unless the lights are configured to use the white circuit, you choose one of the other 3 circuits

Then you click on the circuit you want to use, you can change it's intended use then

So you run as either

1) lh lamp on circuit 1

2) Rh lamp on circuit 2

3) Both lamps together on circuit 3

Guys sorry I meant this menu of choices , what have you picked from this page to put the drl's through as an accessory so the the ez can accepts them . Sorry for not making myself clear.

From experience, trying to do things on the cheap is more than often a false economy

I've replaced 6 tail lamp extra stops lamps thingys at a cost of £60 so far, a new b6 is £120 , so I'm 50% down already, I bought a genuine in the end

Front led bulbs, 3 different pairs only one white pair and one failed in 6 weeks £20 odd a pop

A complete cluster was £120

The lone riders were £458 new if I recall, they had a special offer on, so I took advantage of that, and paid it off in 4 chunks

Are the lights you have "can" compatible? Do they run off the white circuit?, can they be altered on the fly, or is everything fixed?

I
I think the Lone Rider Motolights are £625 or so. If I was doing a lot of riding at night I'd probably consider fitting them but in reality I just want to be more visible in the daytime so if these Colights do the job then I'm happy. At that price I could go through 5 sets to match the price of the Motolights!

I had the Denali set up on my 1250 and from what I can see of the Colights they "seem" to be of a similar quality or higher. Likewise with the B6 clone I bought from Aliexpress.

As I said before, I guess we'll find out

I used the one that says accessory 4th one along on the top row. It works for me.....

The denalican hex ezcan daisy chains between the tps sensor, asc unit, alarm or blank plug, depending on bike spec,

As for connecting the lights in, its up to you

You could put the pair on the blue circuit, and configure from there , or one lamp on a circuit and configure from there

Unless the lights are designed to run on the white circuit, the only configuration is what's shown under the red blue yellow circuits

Reading the hex / Denali manual is a good start

I'm 99% sure that the white circuit acts just the same as the other circuits - but has the added ability to act as a data channel.

If you don't have a need for that, you can consider ut exactly the same as the red blue & yellow (I think the moto light is the only thing that uses it at the moment).

Yes you can connect to the white circuit if you wish. But be aware that you cannot use any of the special functions of the white circuit if basic equipment is fitted, and if you then buy any white circuit enabled stuff you will have to change stuff over

Thanks (I think).

Is there anything out there that uses the data features of the white circuit other than the motolight?

Feels like it's a moot point. Up until 6 months ago, the white circuit was always exactly the same as any other.

Now the moto light has come out, it has had the option of using it as a data controller added - that's it.

So the only benefit is that you can control a complicated multi channel light with just 1x circuit (which is good - I accept that).

But you still need a ezcan controller, but using the data connected circuit would mean it's easier to still connect lights + horn + back light (if you want to do that).

But you still have this option regardless, by adding another ezcan & saving hundreds of pounds :)

Choices choices.

Or daisy chaining into the white circuit, that's it's benefit, just waiting on other 3rd party vendors to sit up and take notice

It's relatively new, but give it time

Only the Lone Rider lights use the single white circuit for all their communication, these aren’t that intelligent which I guess is at least partly where the price difference comes in

Yeh - I think you are right there.

But, I'm still where I started... tonight I see the motolights on their own at £629 (you need a ezcan / mounts on top).

The CoLight D09 pro is £115 (you need an ezcan / mounts on top).

Promise to come back in a few years & update if they go pop :)

You haven't got them running yet lol

I need to finish my review of them and actually get them mounted but waiting on the mounts so I can put them where the existing ones are on the bike, I’ll be taking them to France/Germany/Austria/Italy soon so I’ll hopefully get to test them out in rain and high heat

Erm - pls go back to post #1 in the thread.

I've had them up & running for several weeks - delighted with them.

My experience with them being up & running is the very reason for the existance of this thread :)
