Happy to say I ordered one yesterday.
Color blue/grey with all the options except the panniers. I think they like sh... eh cheap.
Delivery should be end of march. Can't wait.

ordered one before christmas, early march im promised ! cant wait, not sure about the silver sides to the tank though !

Yep, that'll definately be me then. First GS, first BMW bike, and just a tad apprehensive as I've always ridden 'crutch rockets' as you seem to call them. Anyway, judging from the vast amount of positive comments from this site I reckon I've made a good decision. Blue, grey and black, standard plus heated grips. April delivery, which gives me time to heal from my latest trackday mishap:mad:

Have only gone and done it!!!

Just placed my order for a new GS...delivery April / May -(seems like ages away!!) and I cant wait. Was considering an 1150 last year but decided to wait for the new model..... Am looking forward to hooking up on a few ride outs (the calender is a usefull tool on here - have already made a few notes in my diary) so will hopefully see some of you guys later in the year......

Today I was told by the importers Bike Manager that he's getting 5 1200GS's( instead of 25 1150s) between now and September this year, and he's got to take the factory spec bike, which is with panniers, ABS, and hand guards as well as a couple of other things which I can't remember...
Taking the pizz a bit when you can't even spec your own bike:cool:

great that you can organize your orders THAT much

in Greece what would happen if I went to my dealer today (and skipping all the trade part of the discussion):

- I would TELL them that the bike exists because they probably don't know yet
- I would pre-order (just talk)
- next month they would tell me I can order (I will need to call them, they won't call me)
- I will place the order and some money in front, without knowing when I will get it
- in TWO months I will have the FIRST NOTIONS of when (in month level - no more detail)
...
- it will come one month after the date they told me it will come
- it won't have the extras I ordered and they will add them later

nice?

.......Blimey, I thought that Greece was the cradle of civilisation:confused:

yes the cradle

cradles fail all the time lately

maybe I need to update my ActiveSync

:D

seriously now, it has nothing to do with civ... it is just that us Greeks are VERY bad consumers (don't read this as "stupid" as we KNOW what we do... we just cannot control ourselves for the better)

for example, the grocery store outside my mother's house might rise apple prices sky high... my mother will still buy
then whine that her money are not enough

milk companies may rise prices, consumers will whine on TV windows and... still buy
milk companies will whine that something else is expensive that makes them sell high and the circlle goes on

I haven't heard of a successful boycott lately

we are bad consumers...

same thing here... bad service? I might easily be the only one to mail a complain letter to the importer (and still be ignored - why not? they don't really get pushed by their clients)... in the end I will still buy from my local dealer (you see he is walking distance blah blah)

sometimes too much freedom... oh well...

It's not that different here in Cyprus, but dealer fitted options are a piss take, CY£500 for a pair of fogs, CY£400+ for engine bars... THEN they get the hump when you fit non MWB bits...

AH!! Excellent.

Now that should bring the 'OLD' GS into the affordable realms of the average man.

Thank you rich people(I presume you're all south or south east of london).

You can now expect to see more GS's commuting, going to MAG rallies, and generally being totally abused in the fashion that they were designed for......

HURRAH!!!

I'm in.

Yellow with grey side bits and black seat. Wire spoked wheels & heated grips.

Apparently I'm 22nd on the list at Vines, which is a June/July delivery.

Just got to save up now!

Ordered one:

Blue/Grey with Black seat.

ABS, heated grips, spoked wheels, alarm.

Having doubts about panniers. Asked TT if they will have a 1200 Zega set by end of April when I get my 1200

Well, Ive put down my deposit for the 1200 in July. Blue and grey.

Planned with local BMW dealer to take my 03 GS1150 in beforehand and sell it. Promptly hit a car on way home and got hit again in fast lane of dual cabbageway. Result is a twisted subframe, bent wishbone and usual tarmac impact damage.

I got away with a smacked black and blue LHS and my life!

Looking forward to the test ride on 13th still.

NEW 1200GS

AFTER READING ALL THE REPORTS AND SPEAKING TO A DEALER WHO HAS BEEN OUT TO SOUTH AFRICA AND TRIED ONE FOR A FEW HUNDRED MILES I'VE GIVEN IN AND ORDERED ONE FOR SEPT DELIVERY AS THERE ALL APARENTLY NOW SOLD UNTIL THEN BUT I DON'T MIND IT'S SOMETHING TO LOOK FORWARD TO YE-HA!!:beerjug:

I'll hopefully get one in 2005.

If BWM will sell me one without servo brakes.

I've never even ridden an 1100 or 1150 - I know I'd like them, but they're too heavy for off road. The 199kgs of the 1200 is still too heavy but on a par with my 100GS. So I'll give it a go.

Anyone buying a new 1200 want to lend it me for a few hours round the local trails?

Snap......

You have good taste Sir. I've just ordered one the same with the Alarm on. They are taking my Yellow and Grey GS in as a part ex. I also want some panniers for it but apparently they cannot be ordered before March 13th which is the launch date...!!!

HAve Fun

AndyT;)

Yellow....good taste.....

..does this mean that my Sunny Yellow 1150GS is now socially acceptable!

None of the poll responses really matches my opinion.

1200GS is a great step forward, I like the look of the 1200GS, it keeps the character of the old bike but they have improved pretty much everything. The only doubt raised by the road-tests is whether BMW have gone for a peak power number at the expense of mid-range torque.

..but my now fashionable Sunny Yellow 1150GS is less than a year old, I'm still happy with it, and would loose too much money if I chopped it in. Maybe get a 1200GS in 2005/6.
