Come on, who's tested it today?

I am very surprised that dealer would allow a bike out before the 600 run in first service . My dealer said they run in before as it’s a requirement from the factory as its new bike . That’s one demo bike I would steer clear of when it comes up for sale. . Imagine riders testing how well it pulls from low gears or a fast spin up , yes the clocks flash but … . The bike I will be testing will have been run in and first service done , so I would expect a full engine ride .

Went to have a look at them in Chester on Saturday, they were starting their test rides today (Monday) as they had run them in. They got 4, one of each but none with the adaptive height suspension so I didn't bother booking a test
Asked them to e mail when they get one in as they said they were going to order one with the suspension as a demo as most had asked.
They only got what BMW allocated them, no idea if or who has a demo with the suspension
Loved the look of the bike, some nice touches added on the triple black
Cotswold have the full fat green one ready for test , the bike was about to go for its first service , it also had the top on as I had discussed this with the sales team as many riders need to consider pillions and the top box would give a good comparison of space and comfort from the 1250 .

Who runs the demo bikes in if it isn't customers doing demo rides??.
Most won't thrash them, I didn't. Modern bikes don't need running in like they used to, they are made to better tolerances.

The other thing I wasn't struck on was the new way the switching works to change suspension settings, or DTC, or seat heating \heated grips + a few others. Won't even try to explain it in detail :) . But basically you push one new button and that brings up the list and then you use the wonder wheel to go through them and flip it right to select which function you want to change it set.
Certainly not ideal, having to keep going in the menu to adjust the screen or turn up the heated grips, can't understand why the grips and screen don't have their own specific buttons on the switchgear.

The heated grip\seat button on the Rh bar has been replaced by the ignition on\off button. The menu system may be fine when you get used to it. The displays still shows the current grip\seat heat settings.
Just seemed over complicated at first use.

Can you electronically adjust the screen whilst moving.

Yes customers do , but they still need to be run in as this is the best way to have a good ride and again not all folks will be careful , as I say dont buy that demo. I go out and use the demo as if it was my bike , work it as you want to low and hard and ride it properly , not pussy around with it.. Maybe the dealer is not worried , I would be as your meant to run them in otherwise the dealer as he hands over the keys states keep it below .... If a demo was not first sevice i would not ride it as feel its not right and your not going to get a balanced view IMHO.

Yes, you can adjust it to any position if it has the electric option. The manual option is only high or low (no in between).
I've have also now realised why I couldn't find the suspension height adjustment on the demo bike. They don't have it unless you add the "adaptive height control," option at £490.
The demo bike didn't have it.
I occasionally use the "min" setting now on the 1250gs if I just fancy a lazy ride or if I'm in traffic. Just makes flat footing it easier.
Thought the adaptive height option on the 1300 was going to be only so it would automatically drop the suspension when you stopped but it seem you loose all the spring height adjustment if you don't select adaptive height when ordering the bike. Happy to be corrected if that's wrong but the online manual seems to back it up.

Had one hour test ride today on the All Black 1300. Weather wasn't great & to be honest I was a little underwhelmed !. It felt lighter and more agile to flick about (but didn't have paniers on like my existing 1250gs). It didn't feel as smooth as mine when going slow in higher gears and seemed to be snatching and the engine rattled like a bag of spanners. I wasn't sure if it was set up correctly and maybe it would be better after its first 600 mile service??. I was trying to see how it coped low down the revs in comparison to my 1250 but it wasn't as good. I think just trying to plod along in 6th or even 5th it wasn't happy below 30mph on the flat. It would pick up ok but didn't want to just amble along at that speed with out rattling and snatching. Maybe it was an unfair test on a bike that was new ??.
Rest of it was ok, liked the simpler cast subframe and it has better shielding to stop the back wheel throwing dirt up at the rear shock etc.
I wanted to like it and was going to order one. But to be honest I was put off and think my existing 1250 is actually better in the engine & even the quickshifter on the 1300 wasn't a big improvement (but my 1250 is a 2022 build and has always been pretty good on the quickshifter for a boxer twin. Better than my first my2019 1250gs).
I will do another test ride when it's a better day and on a bike with more miles on it and has had its first service.
That's how i felt after getting off the Multi, that is one noisy bike drive me mad on a long trip !

That was what they said to start with. Then they said they had no service kits so just crack on. I was the first person the take it on the road. Didn't thrash it but rode as i normally do and it was just fine.
No i probably wouldn't buy that one.🤣👍🏻

Professional riders run them in, for dealers
Our local dealer had a ROSPA examiner run their bikes in, for first 600 miles, last week

Chopsie has been out on one too . Vid out tomorrow

Chad and Chris too :

Got to ride a demo today.
Loved it!
The TFT only took moments to get used to and it had a Nav6 as well.
Coming from a RT I was surprised how much wind protection there was from such a small screen.
Engine is amazing through the whole rev range, roll on in any gear was fantastic.
To talk about speed and handling I would have to pretend I was in Germany on a unlimited road- which I wasn’t- so let’s not go there other than to say it’s impressive.
