Comfy old boots bike service resto thread

Bash plate is standard yes. No 1 is starter relay, looks like the red wire has corroded and come adrift, quite common.

Makes sense. Ten years since I’ve been at a bike. I’ll have a look first where the red wire goes. The cable on the right is the abs sensor.

The red one goes into 87?

In terms of spotlights. Are these in any way decent? I just want a bit of extra light when it’s dark and a bit more presence in city traffic? Not sure I’m ready for switched power install, despite Wapping’s thread.

They are only halogen. If anyone has any suggestions I’d really like them. Right enough of my ramblings. I’m off to drink beer and put the bbq on.

Gonna wash everything tomorrow. Thanks for reading.

Are these
ZTechnik Z5142 Xenon HID auxiliary lights?

Good price reasonably local…

These can be directly attached to battery?

Thanks. I think this is correct? I’ll not be starting the engine until next week so if anyone thinks it’s wrong?!IMG_6503.jpeg

Definitely a standard bash plate, Motorworks sell the rubber mountings for them, I’ve just replaced them on my 2007 gs.
They have a hex metal plate on both ends of the rubber attached to a threaded bolt so should unscrew fairly easily. They screw directly into the sump casing one end and have a nut on the other.

Thanks for that. I hit the deck hard and the protection did its job.

I'll dig in tomorrow and get what is on there off. Might be a vice grip removal!

I see also you have silver frame, must have started life as a GS? Mine is same, GS converted to GSA tank.
I think I've just the standard gs! I'll get the Haynes out tomorrow and get the tank off.

Guess how full the tank is? Yep. Of course it is.

I have these on my GSA. Good light output. Bolt straight on the same as the stock spotlights.
Considerably cheaper than the ones you linked to earlier. And a nice white led

I just found this on AliExpress:
2Pcs 40W LED Motorcycle Auxiliary Fog Lights 6000K Super Bright Driving Headlight for R1200GS Adv F800GS Adv F800gs

Well I’ve just bought these for €50. If they are what I hope, bargain. Hoping they will fit on the old spots fittings.
