can any one recommend a good replacement seat for 1150gsa as origional low bmw seat a bit hard on the back-side on long trip for wife and me:beer:

... hmm 'fraid so, knocks the price up a bit for two, they're about £150 each in England I think.

A good bit of kit though.

Seats

Beware of gedtting a corbin seat(rip off) these apart from the fore mentioned remark are very wide at the front and spread the legs and make seat height
considerably higher.
dave (corbin saw me comming) GS.

Corbin seat :thumb2

Wunderlich seat, standard or low :spank

But it all depends on your own arse shape.

One mans armchair , is another mans milkcrate

I got a Sargeant seat for mine - converted it to std GS format. You can also buy Adv style one piece ones too now.

Very comfy, better than std seat, but noticeably lower. To the extent that I've reverted to the std Adv seat until I can get some spacers made to raise the Sargeant seat up to the Adv height.

There's a good 15mm difference, if not 25mm, despite what they say on their site about it being same leg to pedal length, despite being slightly lower (they reckon it's wider and that makes the leg length the same, but I don't think so)

That, or I might buy the Sargeant Adv version if they can make it the same height for me.

Also got a Sargent

Good piece of kit & not the stupid Corbin price - got the GSA low version (as I'm vertically challenged) Feels quite hard initially but is very comfortable with a little bedding in much better than std BWM seat, much more padding for the pillion than std seat but due to the fact that SWMBO only rides when it's warm she hasn't tried it yet.

Cheers

airhawks...they are GGRRRREAT!!! NEVER had a sore bottom with one.....even after the PWA long distances........not a sore muscle in sight!!

http://www.bykebitz.co.uk/ sell the 'cheap' Airhawk for £70. I bought one last year and, after 12k miles, can vouch for the long distance comfort. I use the Cruiser Budget Medium size. I did think of the more expensive (repairable) version but figured that I could buy two budget ones for the same money if the first were to puncture.

I had initially set the bike seat on the low setting and then added the Airhawk on top secured to the framerails with some velcro (cable) ties that I bought in Ikea. Trial and error led me to find that the that I had put too much air into the Airhawk and I felt a bit disconnected from the bike. Less air so the Airhawk is barely inflated and returning the bike seat to standard height work well for me.

If you change bikes every couple of years the other advantage of Airhawk is you can transfer them between bikes; can't do that with fancy Corbin, etc seat units.

You occasionally see Airhawk advertised on e-bay but never when you want to buy one yourself.

Ive got the corbin adv one piece seat on mine. Very hard to the touch but all day comfortable.
However, the pillion section, whilst larger than the standard adv pillion area, is smaller than the 1150 pillion seat.
I added a gel pad on the pillion whilst on holiday and she said it was fine but no better than the 1150 one.
The riders bit is a tad wider than the standard adv seat but is definitely lower.
Ive got 32 inchers (legs) and they reach the ground ok.
The seat is so heavy, I notice a big difference wheeling the bike around if the seat is off.
