A mate has given me a compact flash card for my 2610 but for some reason has no label on it to say what size it is seems to be working ok but is there any way to find out the size using the 2610

Cheers Steve

the easiest way would be to hook it up to your pc/mac with a card reader and see how big it is that way by checking the properties of the card.

If you can't find out by using the 2610 and haven't got a card reader, you can pop in it in the post to me Jinkxy, and I can check it in work for you. I'll PM you my work address if you need it. :thumb

I can either post it back to you (Recorded Delivery) or give it to you at Abercrave.

or stick it into a digital camera or PDA which takes them...

There's an 'indirect' way you can do this, but it is time-consuming.

Hook the GPSR up to your PC, then select a mapset that you know will be bigger than what the card size is. For example, select the entire set of Europe maps, which I think is about 1.4 gigs. Then attempt to download these to the CF card.

Eventually, you will get an error message that will state that the size of the map load (xxx bytes) is bigger than the capacity of the CF card (xxx bytes).

This type of task is best accomplished by starting the map download before you go to bed at night, and then reading the error message the following morning.
