Im looking at upgrading the memory on my 2610 to somewhere in the region of 2-4gb and am have seen many compact flash types on ebay for not a lot of money.

Can someone give me advice? Do I need to buy specific stuff, or can I just buy any old compact flash? Any maximum size spec on the unit? Recommended size, or just more is better?

Muchos gracias! :bow

They are sensitive to some cheaper brands. Go for a SanDisk or similar. You don't need a high-speed item.

2Gb cards

Use the search facility above to find the link - 2Gb cards can now be had for less than 20 quid each :thumb. This size is what you need to load the current V8 european maps - I'm not sure buying any bigger is worth it - if you need multiple maps then just use multiple cheap 2g cards.

Tilesizing and (I think) detail seems to be getting a bit bigger - so we have to wait and see if v9 will fit on a single 2gb card. I also think that the 2610s might be limited to 2gb :nenau

And as to CN V9, it apparently uses less space than V8.

Steve are you not comparing CN v9 NT -v- CN v9 (regular)?

The NT version of CN are smaller files than the regular vesions, but not all Garmin devices can use NT. Or do you have some altogether new info?

According to the Dutchman, V9 uses 1.38GB, but I've just realised he is indeed talking about NT.
