Had a rotor go on my old R80, in the depths of France, and had problems with both voltage regulator and diode board on my mono RS. All are weakpoints !
My PD now has a high output regulator from MotoBins, but I'm very tempted by the solid state alternator that Bam Bam has. Instructions for fitting are a tad confusing, but may go this route soon. Least I can go round and ask Bam Bam for help ????![]()
Having identified the potential weaknesses with the standard charging system on the bike for The Gambia trip I decided to go with an uprated system and went with the Enduralast solid state version after reading various articles including BamBam's on this very site.

Service from the guys over at Euromotoelectrics was second to none not only did they supply a spare controller unit for the trip but they also made a generous donation to the Calum's Road fund as well, can't recommend the company or the product highly enough.
