Hello forum. Deposit paid for a basic LC with heated grips. Now the long winter wait until March 2014.
Took a long test ride today, first 50 miles left me indifferent, not much better than my 09 model. Just the same feeling I had on previous loan bikes. After a tea break I settled down and stopped comparing, I just enjoyed the ride.
The bike has not previously or on this occasion bowled me over with superior performance but I did start to appreciate some of its assets. It took me 4 rides of 75 miles + and a year of my wife owning her F650 to buy my first F800GS. I had half a dozen loan GS1200s before the swap to my current bike, I initially hated the bike before finally settling to it. Now after my sixth ride on the LC I'm sure I will acquire the same enjoyment.

Good decision, love my 2014 LC and no problems what so ever, still miss the GSA TC a bit but the LC is so much more fun and for me that's what it is all about:)

Good job I was sat down.... Had to read it twice... you have parted with some money right...?? Are you okay...?? lol

What colour have you got...??

If it didn't feel much different to your '09 bike, why are you spending out what, £5K+ to change to the 'new must have' bike?

£11,650 plus £230 for heated grips = £11,880 before any discount.

Would certainly hope he got more than £6,880 for his old one

I got a good deal, and its white.
I had my 09 bike 20 months and covered 21000 miles with no problems at all. 2014 has the makings of the best touring year for ages so I would have a bike with 36000 miles this time next year. Once over 30000 miles second hand values plummet. I did the maths and after deducting my existing Warranty and European recovery costs for two years a new bike now makes so much sense.
The salesman will be able to tell you how long it takes for me to part with money, this is a cold, logical purchase.
I looked around at the NEC and nothing except the KTM and the Std GS1200 fired my imagination. I was very disappointed with the Suzuki V strom 1000 and Honda confirmed no Africa twin in the near future. My alternative was a nearly new twin cam, because these have all the toys the cost was almost the same as a new LC.

Also I love the excitement of a new bike every few years, riding and holidays are the reason I go to work. No matter how many times you have ridden a road its different and fresh on a new machine.

Crud catcher (if available) and fender extender will be added after collection. Im not sure yet which boxes and top box to fit. The varios are tops due to their fixings being on the bike already, however they are heavy and over complicated.
No mention of infill panels or head guards in the brochure yet Balderstones are selling them as genuine BMW parts.

Sooty, I have a brand new crud catcher still in it's packet, never been fitted and surplus to my requirements if you don't want to pay the full price. It's one of Marc's products so is excellent. I also have a Pyramid plastics fender extender almost new which I'll chuck it in for free if you want it!

Enjoy your new steed.

Thanks for the offer Batman, with having 11 weeks or so to wait for delivery I'm taking my time selecting the part I will fit.
Any other takers?

Allan Jefferies, always been good and friendly. No hassle despite the many test rides and offer some really good deals from time to time. Nice free coffee machine and always warm on a cold day.
