Hi Everyone,

I often have the pleasure of having to ride on the M1, this in itself is ok and can be fun. The problem I am getting is if the traffic builds up and I can't filter, the bike gets hot.. Very hot, I have had seven bars recently, and I thought it was going to set fire to my boots:eek:

Well I have had an idea, I thought I would put it on this board to see if it has been tried before by GS'ers. I was thinking of mounting a small fan behind the oil cooler, obviously small enough not to get in the way of the forks, something like the fans on prosessers in computers. and running it off a switch, or if anyone out there can make it 'cut in' at six bars on the RID it would be better? Has this been tried by any one in the past? any info or comments are most welcome:idea :D

This is what Buell do on the latter models - feedback on the web from places like Arizona is a small fan makes very little difference.
You need a big fan and a large rad to make a significant difference at stand-still.
But I suppose every little bit helps...

Probaby useless...

... but the Police RT-P models have a fan fited to allow the cops to sit around with the engine running.

A guy I know did the same using PS cooling fans, on a KMX 200 that he used for trail riding and this seemed to work OK.

Why can't you filter

I am curious to why you cannot filter, do you carry a plank of wood on your bike sideways?:p

I get 7 bars in heavy London traffic, just get on with it....fancy fans not required. Try being on a Pan in traffic
:p1zzed:
HOT HOT HOT

A vented jacket might help. and flip flops:D

Sorry for no constructive comments......the others are there for that.;)

I don't carry a plank of wood:moped: But my Touratech panniers do come close to cars wing mirrors, sometimes a little too close:D

Hi Andy,
I like to hear the out come off this I was thinking the same myself, let us know what fan you use if you go for it, As for carring planks of wood, last sunday Touratach panniers on board and a pillon and also four planks off wood 1.5m in lenght and still flew through London town.
