Just wondering !!!

At the end of November I took delivery of a new water GS after being completely convinced bye dealership that they were the dogs bollocks. 1800 miles 8 months old and 15 grand, the engine is showing terrible signs of corrosion, all the joints between the heads barrels and the block all are terrible. And today I've noticed a hole has now appeared on the engine casing right next to the casting mark.
What the bloody hells happened to the so called German build quality.
I've busy talking to my dealership at the moment and a possible

1-new engine corrosion
2-new frame. Corrosion
3-brake disc x3 pitting corrosion
4- centre stand corrosion

Should have mentioned they've already changed

1- clock cluster filled with water
2- battery recall..

What next !!!!!!!

Engine replacement sounds like viable option.

Forgot to mention a new head light control box for the led light unit it's showing signs of corrosion...

I wish I could post photos

I think mine shows signs of aluminum oxidation too. It's kind of white-ish, not brown like someone posted recently on their clutch link...

Maybe try and squeeze a very VERY good deal out of the dealer for say a 2014 ex demo or the likes.

Still a few issues on the later bikes but not as many as the earlier ones it seems.

Worth asking as I'm sure you're loosing a little faith in your one now :(

I've a fair bit of oxidisation starting on the engine casings, with this and a crappy gearbox what is overall a great bike is now starting to lose some of it's appeal.

I've written to head office asking if they are prepared to make a substantial contribution toward the purchase of a 2015 bike ? As yet no reply.

If they're not prepared to offer any sort of compensation than I'm seriously considering a Guzzi Stelvio.

Shame really as I've had 7 new BM's and around 18 used in the last 20 yrs and never a problem.

Then again I could always completely renovate my 99 1100gs,which I seem to be riding more than the 1200wc just lately.

Head office BMW in Germany?

Waste of time, they are manufacturers, their dealer network is customer facing, so that is where you aim correspondence, so take it into your local BMW dealer and ask for their opinion.

Shame Steve

Sorry to hear this, I thought this WC was your forever bike

Hope you get sorted

Maybe these new bikes are based around the 3yr PCP change every 3 years then not a problem, also explains the high sales figures :)

So you either have a garage full of bikes or you get bored very quickly?

Neither really..... I tend to get a new bike every 2 or 3 years, and I'm always on the look out for a bargain. So if I come across something which I think I can run for 6-12 months and sell it for similar money to the purchase price then I'll have a go.

Sometimes I get a bit more sometimes a bit less, for me it's a way of owning a second or third bike without it costing a fortune.

Had a bit of finance on my second ever bike which I purchased in 1972.... never ever again.

Paid cash for mine. Apart from a mortgage, I don't owe a bean. Hasn't always been thus, just since I married a sensible woman.
