I feel compelled to say that the more I read the posts within this forum detailing the problems associates with the GS range, the more I am dissappointed by the lack of acceptable build quality in what is supposed to be a top of the range series of motor vehicles. Are BMW taking us for mugs, £14K for a motor vehicle that has widely reported issues with paint, corrosion, FD failure, FPC failures and all the other issues that are reported time and time again.
After initial problems with my 2006 GS1200 I was starting to appreciate the confort, useability and versatility of the bike, until noticing this afternoon the paintwork of the front engine cover resembling the inside of a aero bar and with the lightest touch the paint fluttered gracefully to the floor.
After 20 years of riding Japanese sports bikes including everthing from the smallest trailey to Blades, R1's and Hayabusa's without the kind of failure mentioned herein, I am left wondering where does the problem lie with BMW or us the people that made the purchase.
Surely there must be something that can be done to make BMW aware (assuming they are not already) of the levels of dissatisfaction their inability to provide a reliable, vlaue for money product causes. I have no problem with spending top dollar for top quality what I do object to is paying top dollar for a pile of doggy doo. !
With the new Jamaha XT1200 now in the market perhaps BMW will wake up and smell the cofee that unless customer satisfaction is considered as much as profit margin, their market share will dwindle with rapidity... we shall see.
Rant over back to NCIS and agent Zivva (ohhh Matron!)
