I have been reading with interest (alarm?) about the dissolving abilities of the new LC 1200's. Now I have the opportunity for a proper comparison test.

My friend bought a 2017 Rallye as a company bike, paid for by his company and therefore he has no financial interest in the bike whatsoever, however he is a proud man and will keep it clean. No ACF50 mind you, just good old soap and water. He also uses it everyday for work; summer, winter all conditions - he does not drive a car.

I have also just bought a 2017 GS TE, brand new. I have lavished care and attention on it, clean it everytime I go out. Bought ACF50 for the bolt heads, use FS365 every time it is washed. (I'm not OCD, just spent my life savings on the damn thing). I have also fitted a Mud sling, fenda extenda etc to keep the crap off

Both of us had Hondas before, latest years they did. He's never had a BMW before - never thought he would! Only concession to cleaning the Rallye is that he has alloys fitted not spokes - he's not that daft

So both bikes bought a few weeks apart, totally different approach to ownership.

Lets see......

Is this the Corrosion Test that is running alongside my Corrosion Test?

I've now done nearly 6500 miles (and no rust), so need to update my thread over the weekend. :D

But I can tell you upfront, there is NO WAY my R1200GSA is going anywhere near Winter Salt on the highway. For those couple of weeks it'll be LOCKED UP.

I'll use the Bandit 1250 during the WINTER SALT FEST and wreck that instead.

I take the hint, you will hear no more from me on rust or other things corrosive.

let's look on the bright side and use the damn things as they were meant to be used......

Just search next time. So many new posters coming in here repeating subjects that have been covered ad nauseam.

You could always add to the data on Warlord's thread...... the more the merrier :thumb

Oh awesome....another corrosion/rust thread...as if we don't have enough already!

Do they do much salt spreading in Sydney? :)

Is there a defined number of posts that take you beyond being defined as a new poster? I am assuming it is around 674 posts, but who really cares whether you are new or not, surely the OP was only trying to be helpful from his own experience.

Have a good day and I hope the Roosters win the Grand Final:thumby:

Aww how cute....two noobs giving me shit.

All hail the long standing member! Noobs to this forum maybe, motorcycling not so much.

Didn't realise you were the gatekeeper of all things forum.

Lucky for you I'm not :)

Lucky for me you say, and why is that?

Having said that I see you have form for lurking around on others posts and moaning. Seems to me that you might want to start your own forum where you are the only contributor.
