Just found this on my left cylinder. NOT happy!

The bike has been ACF50'd since it left the showroom and I'm pretty picky when it comes to washing and drying. Email already sent to BM HQ!

What is the email address for BM HQ?! I can only get the generic customer service one?!

the same thing was reported with K1600 bikes in the UK. Something to do with the road conditions (salt on the roads) etc.

Replacements are very expensive involving complete engine cases being changed out.

.

Might be just my area but our local council has hardly used salt over the past winter, minimal use of gritters only 3/4 frosts, warmest for years.
Has the paint changed maybe?

Got some rust blisters and white markings just like yours on my final drive. Will have the dealer take a look when doing brake fluid change. In my foolishness i believed that alls needed done was rub down and repaint. Apparently not. If accepted by BMW as a problem due corrosion they will replace the affected part. In my case the final drive but in yours the engine

Somebody will be along shortly to stop moaning and enjoy your bike :(

I've said it before and I will say it again (and yes, I have some experience the 11.5s).. The R1200GS is (IMHO) the best all round bike you can buy BUT they are made of shit!!!!!!! The quality of materials and finish is crap and BMW should be ashamed. There should be NO need to apply ACF50. I haven't had to with my Hondas!

OP - Stop moaning and enjoy the most awesome, dynamic and blisteringly quick GS that has ever graced tarmac

Corrosion is only a passing phase, the rest is just a blur

There ya go:D

bmw did mention that only the bikes in the UK were experiencing this.

how much of that to believe , am not sure.

take lots of pictures and take it up with your dealer(s).

I like your philosophy :)

I am NOT anti BMW, I LOVE my GS (2008 pre TC). I've tried all the 'adventure' bikes on the market and in my opinion the GS is the best there is. It's simply a fact that the quality isn't what it should be or what it once was and BMW don't seem to care because they are making too much money on one of the the most popular bikes in the UK :(

In 18 months, can you imagine how much trade in Ur gonna get.?
IF the salesman sees THAT he's gonna run a mile..
As will anybody who sees it in the showroom too..
