Corrosion

FFS it's a bit of corrosion, get over it. You have a mass produced bike that will be worth feck all in 3 years, not a work of art :blast

BMW have just reamed you, pussies.

Aren't they made in China now anyway?

Hi there, Have you had any response or news of progress with this, as I have the same problem on both sides of the cylinders and the final drive. Also got corrosion around the screw heads as seen on your picture.

Many thanks

Great. Thanks for the update. I am taking mine in next week. In terms of you writing yourself directly to BMW HQ, did you get a response? Also what address did you use? apologies for all the questions.

Just the address from the website. They have responded. Awaiting the inspection results

Well its all part of GS tradition they turn to dust before your eyes they have been optimizing this feature for years and this model is just a new upgraded faster model than the last one in all areas this been just one area improved upon.

At least it keeps them selling new ones and a good supply of flaky around the edges second hand stock for the "poor" people :thumb

My bike is March 2013 5000 dry miles and heated garage. Wd40 over the winter. Corrosion just like this on the right cylinder and also on the final drive. The dealer has photographed and sent to BMW. I've also written directly to BMW. Adventure bike corroding after 1 year, worrying. Need I say more. Will repost when I get a response from BMW.

An Adventure bike that lives in a heated garage and only dry miles? Wooooooosh......

Dim Witt ..!! Didn't even think where the 5000 miles takes you. .try Morrocco. Stelvio, Garmisch. Wonder where you get to. The local bike cafe?

You have just made yourself look a right TWAT.

Find it difficult to believe you've visited Morroco,Stelvio, and Garmisch on your 5000ml travels and never come across a drop of rain.

Somebody will be along shortly to stop moaning and enjoy your bike :(

I've said it before and I will say it again (and yes, I have some experience the 11.5s).. The R1200GS is (IMHO) the best all round bike you can buy BUT they are made of shit!!!!!!! The quality of materials and finish is crap and BMW should be ashamed. There should be NO need to apply ACF50. I haven't had to with my Hondas!
Agree

A quick search would have prevented you looking like a tit :blast

For future reference, dimwit is one word; single 't' too. Definitely no capitalisation of the 'w' either.

Well Morocco is 4500 miles door to door for me. And i'm nearer than you.

Anyway, you've just hoisted yourself on your own petard in an attempt at bike riding distance one upmanship with Sgt Bilco . :D

You assume..!! I never said I'd been to them all. I posed the question where does 5000 miles take you. As I said dim wit or dimwit

Now calm down children. I don't care whether you ride 50k a year in all weathers or merely enjoy a sunny Sunday afternoon blast, the point is the bike shouldn't "rot" like they appear to.

As mentioned here, there should be no need to apply ACF50 - is a bloody brand new bike and not a cheap one at that - shocking really to see such performance. Bikes should be able to be used in alsmost all conditions without showing signs of falling apart!!!
