Anyone have experience of taking the ferry from France to Corsica , hopping over to Sardinia and then over to Sicily? Thinking of doing a loop from Calais...
Any info on cabins needed, food and booze  would be helpful.

Rick

I have been from Genoa to Sardinia (overnight ferry), then 2 day ride back up to top of Sardinia, short ferry hop (santa terrisa to bonifacio) to cosrica, another 2 days ride to top of Corsica, fast ferry ( about 4 hours if i remember right) back from Bastia to Nice.
Both Islands have fantastic biking roads..
Sorry not been to Sicily... yet !

France to Corsica only for me.... Go from Nice :thumb2

Oh yes, it LASHED with rain, too.

I have done some of it in reverse heading in from Albania and crossing Italy. A couple of months back then went from Naples to Sardinia, onwards to Corsica and then back to Savona in Italy.

I did look at the heading from Sicily option, but the ferry departures were only weekly and didn't tie in with my plans, so I opted for Naples and the opportunity to ride the Amalfi Coast instead :thumb2

I took Corsican Sardinian Ferry line from Bastia to Savona, (130 Euros for me and the bike). It was a six hour midnight departure crossing overnight, the incoming arrived an hour before so would be an afternoon departure from Savona out to Corsica. You don't need to have a cabin, I hadn't booked one and paid for an upgrade (about 50 Euro as I recalled) as mine was an overnight, but I was so knackered I still felt it was worth it..

Mobylines operate a 45min ferry from Corsica (Bonifacio) to Sardinia (Santa Teresa Gallura). It cost 41 Euros for me and the bike, a little steep for a short hop I felt. There are other choices of ferries.
Bonifacio is a very nice place by the way around the castle and the harbour, and the journey on the ferry provides some good views.

I used the directferries (www.directferries.co.uk) to book all aside from the short ferry from Corsica to Sardinia which I did direct via the mobylines website (www.mobylines.com)

Just for Info, the Naples-Cagliari ferry was 125 Euros and I paid 34 Euros on board for an upgrade :thumb and a 16 hour crossing.

Good luck with your plans.. Sardinia and Corsica are well worth visiting on a bike, Corsica is in my very top destinations I've travelled to bike wise... :thumb2

We've been to Corsica and Sicily and in our view Corsica is by far the best, Sicily appears to be very run-down and generally scruffy and neglected, rubbish is routinely just dumped at the roadside. Save your money and go to Corsica, you won't regret it.
