My 08 GS has been parked uncovered in the street through all weathers since new and has faired remarkably well...........had a bout of my OCD recently however so invested £70 in a stainless bolt kit to bring it back to "as new". Any ideas on how to rejuvinate the calipers themselves as they have gone from black to mottled black and white........?

Please don't say paint as my hands are a tad unsteady since I gave up the Gin!:augie

Chris Shaw Engineering.............looks like quality stuff........mind the copper grease or equivalent though!

Looking at the Chris Shaw page, I can't see any mention of the stainless grades used for this stuff - added to which they apparently remove all identification marks.

Perhaps like another supplier (http://alloyboltz.com), they offer a set of instructions that specify the appropriate torque values and threadlock or anti-seize compound that should be used. Without this sort of info, I would be loath to use such a kit.

This subject's been done a death.............I'll fit the bolts with confidence, mechanics tell me that any old copper, molybdinum, chip fat etc grease will do the trick or should this become another oil thread......!

Screw sets

Chris has been doing these for years no probs there (no, I've never met him)
after all it's a bike not an aircraft!. Just ride the thing

+1

Chris Shaw and his father know more about BM's than most and his kits have been the best around for years

He 'removes the grade marks' by polishing, only because restorers prefer this, as the bolts then look like the original fittings, just stainless now
