Just noticed my headlight bulb is not working and my headlight has cracked from top to bottom only side light and full beam working.

Bike 6 months old 2600miles, cant see any sign of stone chip damage do you think it could be heat that has blown the bulb and cracked the lens?

My 2 month old GSA has just done the same although the bulbs ok, presume it was a stone chip. have you had it checked out by dealer as a new lamp is over £300 fitted ? Mine's going in on Tuesday. I was reluctant to buy a headlamp screen as they are advertised as off road use ONLY, but its getting one on now. Steep learning curve !

I will speak to the dealer and have it checked out, had a good look no signs of a stone chip and when reading my handbook it mentioned a warning light should come on advising me i have a bulb out it's not coming on and i have no headlight just the full beam somethings wrong.

Yesterday i remember riding over speed bumps at our local ford garage not to hard but maybe that has caused it however it is called an adventure bike i have never used it off road or tried to wheelie it, hope i do not have to buy a new headlight unit.

The glass must be very weak, I've seen stone chips on my car headlamps but they did not crack like the GS. Dont expect it at the prices we paid. They are after all off road bikes. Please let me know if BMW change the headlamp under warranty.

if your dip beam is not working you will get a lampf warning in the display.
you do know that when the engine is not runing you will get side lamp and main will come on along with the ability to flash main beam but dip will not come on,the engine must be runing for it to come on,
btw did you know you have self canceling indicators and the steering lock works on left and right lock.may i suggest you rtm

Excellent service from Allan Jefferies spoke to them on the phone this morning, emailed pictures of the cracked headlight in less than 20 minutes they said it is a manufacturing fault and will replace under warranty, as for the faulty bulb it only works when engine is running well you live and learn :D

Mines going to Allan Jefferies tomorrow, I hope I get the same response

Hopefully it is a fault - but I wouldn't run any bike on the road without a plastic headlight protector - there are too many stories of stones cracking them and the prices can be outrageous - I'd seen lots of protectors covered in stone chips too!

When I noticed headlamp cracked I put a piece of gaffer tape on so it did not get worse as I had to get bike back home (best part of a 1000 miles) don't know if it's made it any worse by riding home. See what happens tomorrow. I'll keep you posted.

:blagblah

Maybe some ugly fekker looked into the reflector when it was parked up? :nenau

Which would you recommend i may as well get one before a stone hits my replacement

I have the BMW version - fits quickly and easily and does a great job - probably the cheapest option too - for a change !

Update on cracked headlamp. Had to pay £305 for new lamp. BMW are going to check the lamp and may or may not reimburse cost. I guess I'm not getting a System 6 crash helmet anytime soon. Funds all gone. :blast

Damn, that is not great news - but hopefully the possibility of a reimbursement will turn in to reality.

Final update on cracked headlamp. Jefferies's never got back to me with response from BMW even though they said they would let me know either way, so I guess no reimbursment. :censor:
