Not getting anything back on the Items wanted section, so....

Just bought the 2004 1150 GS off here that Professor Plumb sold (was built by Chad). I’d like some better rocker cover protection than the plastic BMW head guard things.

It’s a GS, fitted with a GSA tank.

I contacted Heed – I really like their crash bars – but they said that neither the standard 1150GS nor the GSA crash bars would fit. Maybe that was the easy thing for them to say or maybe it’s true.

The alternative is some metal rocker cover mounted protectors, but they’d have to be black to fit in with the black vibe that the bike has going on.

Anyone got anything, or have any suggestions?

I suspect it was the easy thing for them to say, since there’s no way their customer service person would know the differences and possibilities… These are mostly around the different sumpguard fitted to each model.

I have a 2000 model GS with and Adv tank fitted, and used the BMW GSA bars I bought secondhand from Loz on the site, here. They are not perfect because the rear mounting points for the sumpguard are different, but they work. You just need to also fit the Adv sumpguard.

Stanton/Steptoe alloy head guards would suit; I can't believe you've found a bling-deficit on Chads bike :blast

If you swap that horrible big fuel tank for my standard 1150 GS one you’d be able to get some good crash bars. :D
I’d be doing you a big favour but I’m nice like that. :thumb2 :D

No chance of that. I love the bike as it is (apart from the lack of crashbars)

They go well with the Adv bars, too…

Where would I get those? I guess I can ask Steptoe, but I have a feeling that I saw somewhere that he doesn't make them any more

Correct, they're not made anymore but very occasionally do come up for sale. Try a wanted ad, you've nothing to lose :nenau
