Some lucky swine got a bargain !

£500 total cost!

When I visited the shop and discussed that very bike about 3 weeks ago, they said no 0% PCP as it was a 24 plate pre-owned machine.

Think we’re all overcomplicating a simply smoking deal. I doubt the bike will be worth anything close to £12k! Just look at all the £6k (14k new) CCM kicking about with less then 10,000 miles. I’m not buying GAP insurance either. If I bin it, I’ll basically be out the £1,600 (balance of the payments)
I’ll ride it in nice weather and stick in the garage the rest of the time. That should equate to 4,000 miles or less in 2 years.
Happy Days!! 😎
PS. And yes, I did order one for March 😬

PPS. The bike has a list price of £17k and the most you’ll ever owe is £13,600 - so doubt you’ll need GAP insurance. Stop looking for snow, there isn’t any!!
……….wait!

Are folk getting into this because it`s cheap, or because they really want a Norton?
Doesn`t matter how cheap it is, if the bike turns out to be not your liking then even fifty quid a month is a waste of money...

If you think any insurance company would be giving you more than £10k for your written off/stolen bike at the 12-24 mth point, you're bonkers.....there are £17k bikes advertised at £13k online...(there's on (sold) shown in this thread. A £150 GAP policy may well save you from losing £5k...or more....but each to their own I suppose.

Is that with the insurance company or a separate policy?

I think it depends. I use Howdens (formerly A plan) as a broker for a couple of things and they always offer GAP, as a separate policy. I usually take it even though I don’t usually use finance as it tops up the insurance payout to the price of a new bike in the event of total loss.

I’ve kind of wanted one since I had a Garner era one a few years ago, but I wouldn’t have parted with £17k odd for one, especially with TVS being an unknown quantity.

But at a total exposure of £1500, it’s worth ago despite the fact I have a T120 in the garage with less than 1000 miles on it.

We bought a new car about 10 yrs ago....sales bod tried to upsell us GAP at something like £499.....we declined...off he trots to speak with his manager to get me a good deal. I did a quick google search and found it with ALA for about £150....sales bod comes back and offers me "20% off...so £399...as low as they can go and think yourself lucky the manager is in a good mood....so, shll I include it?"
"No thanks, I can get it for £149"
Shop around

The most you will ever owe is £13600 as it is 0 percent, but as pointed out the insurance company might pay out 10k in 12 months time so you are picking up the £3600 tab minus your £69x12 to cover the shortfall, so a small gap policy may be worth thinking about.

I barely have space with my two bikes and wifeys scooter, but fell in love with the bike when I saw it at the show. Love the naked simplicity too. No electronic bollox and not suffocated by emission control either. Even like the 5 speed box.
Guess the big question is………has anyone actually got their bike yet under this illusional deal?! lol
To date, I’m out £100 and bought from Revolutions in Perth.

It's a very good point. This is me to some degree. Would've never considered one normally. But not averse to trying different left field stuff for a change.

It's £1.90 a day, sofa money as my mate would say. Which means he loses more from his pocket day to day.

I think there's gonna be a long wait, but only guessing.

My gut says mid 2025.

For those who don't think a GAP policy is worthwhile, perhaps consider the following.

Mid 2024, well before these deals were around, a 6 month old Commando was being retailed at £11k, I know this is fact as my neighbour bought it and found this was not an unusual price point, so the trade value was probably around £9- 9500 ish.

The trade will not value these bikes anything like previously given they are thousands less to buy new, take out the VAT and the new bike is now £11k. Figure in depreciation which is educated guesswork for buyers and traders who will be cautious, even if as little as 30% in two years means an insurance company could low you at less than £7500.

A GAP policy for circa £150 could save ypu £5 - 6000 if the bike is written off. Think about it.

Given the above, Norton are on track to lose shed loads on this, but great for the buyer on PCP in the short term, even tempted myself and it takes a lot for me to part with hard earned brass, even £55 pcm, tight arse !

I’ve always been drawn to them when visiting the London or NEC motorcycle shows. It’s a bucket list bike for me which I can now ride for peanuts for 2 years and enjoy. I will take GAP insurance though as it’s an excellent idea, one I wouldn’t have considered.
Mine will be ready 1st March on a 25 plate as krazyhorse had it in stock at another branch.
Regarding the strategy behind the deal, who knows, but TVS have got our attention and I think the new owners will be out on their new bikes hopefully telling people how good they are. Norton really needed that as most of us probably thought about the dodgy quality of the Garner era and dismissed the bike because of it. They needed to build confidence in the product and this should help and will help sales of the new Euro5 models coming out soon.

What would happen if Norton went bust before the end of the pcp deal? It's possible.

I think that doesn’t matter. Your contract is with the finance company, not Norton.

So you’ll still owe the money. But TVS make nearly 4m bikes a year, so are unlikely to go bust.

Seeing as you are only 'renting' the bike you would just had it back and stop any future payments
No, you are buying it on HP. With HP you can, I believe, hand the bike back once 50% of the total contract amount has been paid, so in this case about £6750.

With the PCP you have signed a contract so you cannot just stop payments and walk away without penalty.
You could settle the finance and pay what the contract states you owe to the finance company.
