Crazy Price Norton Commando PCP Deal

Ideally I would have had black rims too, but dealer advised me that this could be problematic a week ago, so what did he know at that time I wonder, but as it turns out he may be right. Just makes me wonder if Norton will get to a point where accepted orders can't be built with black rims and they offer polished instead or worse case scenario cancel the order. Thought I would play it as safe as possible and just order polished rims. Hope it all works out with your specification.
Know it’s probably a redundant point cause there’ll be a mass exodus of returns in 2 years time, but I actually think the polished rims are a more sensible option anyway. The polished wheels are plain alloy and easy to polish out scratches etc (from over zealous tyre fitters) whereas the black are powder coated or similar and not easy to rectify scratches 🤔

I’ve always been a sucker for the black and gold combination though. I blame John Player!! lol

Yeah, same here - I've had plenty of black bikes and they are just so bloody cooooooool. If I was buying one of these Nortons it would just have to be a black one. I would then bitch bitch bitch every single time that I took it out as all black bikes are such a horror to keep clean....as in shiny, see your face in the paintwork, clean.

By contrast, silver bikes are a doddle to keep clean. If you buy a bike with a silver frame and paintwork then you've cracked it, they never look THAT dirty.

Whichever colour you go for these Nortons are a serious eyeful of a motorbike - absolute stunners !!!

Not that we live in a sunny country (!! Lol), but silver fades the quickest in direct sunlight. They turn almost primer grey. Black not great either though. Moot point in any case 😬

Fuck me.

A great deal has somehow morphed into a potential clusterfuck of UKGS proportions ……..

Did someone mention sucking the fun out of things ……..

People were just offering a bit of practical advice in answer to a couple of questions.

....it's bike related and surely better than spending the day posting about Labour/Pakistani rape gangs which seems to be some peoples past-time!!

I'm sure normal service will resume soon

Been advised possibly May for delivery.

Not that I'm too bothered, I've got other stuff to ride / shuffle before then anywho.

Strange I just ordered on Friday and told the beginning or March. I was also told the bike had to be taken before the end of March to get the deal.
It’s no real hardship getting it in May just in time for some hopefully decent weather.

Was chatting with my guy at the Norton dealer few days ago and I don’t think Norton were fully prepared for this onslaught of orders?! lol
This deal was a smoke and mirrors concoction from one dealer jigging with the £3,500 Norton contribution and the PCP finance deal using the £17k list price for the £12k residual after 2 years. Nothing to do with Norton really 🤔
All the other dealers got wind of it and matched.
Just hope we all get our scooters in time for Spring?!
I’m not fussed anyway cause the most important piece of the (my) puzzle is wifey has signed off on 3rd bike………albeit for £69/ month!! 😂

69 once a month. More than most get  (fnar fnar.)

I'm viewing the offer with slight scepticism. If it happens it happens, if not I've not lost anything.

I think the black colour and black wheels are the longer lead times. They have more of the Manx silver and polished rims.

TBH I told my dealer it's not a deal breaker for me in any colour combination.

I was told that too initially. But in reality wasn't surprised yesterday when May was mentioned.

The Solihull factory must be shitting themselves. They won't be used to this volume. Probably 2 years worth of orders over the course of a few weeks. Just hope they're not all made on a Friday afternoon with Ohlins / Brembo's from Ali Baba.

Back to the boring matter of insurance……..My insurance broker has said to put myself as legal owner as PCP is a type of purchase [finance] as opposed to a lease/contract hire. They were initially unsure so checked with underwriters.

Obviously, your insurer may take a different stance.

Not surprised by that. Hopefully that means they retain the quality.

Maybe this has something to do with the pricing?

“Not Euro 5 compliant”

Link
I’d gladly pay extra for anything non Euro 5 (or 1-4) compliant. In the old days the manufacturer set the bike fuelling up for maximum power and lowest operating temperature. Longevity too…………what the hell were they thinking?! Lol
Norton have skilfully (or accidentally) managed to avoid the bullshit homologation.
Other than the looks, this is the single most attractive aspect of the bike.
Can’t wait for mine to arrive 🥰
