Just got our new 09 F650GS twin home with 5k on it, looks like new! It has full BMW main dealer service on it, last done a year ago so now due.

We have noticed some specs of what looked like thin oil on the handlebar and assumed the dealer had cleaned the bike with something and not wiped it all off.

Nope it's brake fluid which has come from the wobbly master cylinder. My assumption was it might be overfull having wiped it all so I syringed a bit out to bring the level down slightly and will recheck after the next ride out for leaks.

When I took the cap and rubber seal off I noticed the inside of the reservoir is coated with a thin film of light coloured slime or crud? Anyone come across this, what is it? Guess I need to clean it out and pump some fresh Dot 4 through. Are these brakes with ABS simple to bleed (just reservoir to calliper?)
Thanks.

Simple to bleed but be uber careful about bubbles - if they get in the ABS unit big PITA, not easily flushed through like non-ABS vehicles.
