Cruise Control Query

Hi I have a 2008 GSA and wanted to fit some type of cruise control device if anyone could recommend any product on the market please. Only aftermarket device I can find at the moment is the Kaoko system?

Slide a suitably sized O-ring around the end of the throttle grip.

Google "go cruise throttle control" - many on this forum (including me) use and rate these. Much better than the Touratech one. Simple and effective.

The Touratech one works fine for me and is supereasy to fit. It's the only one I have tried though.

I use the Jaws version of the Kaoke, the knurled bit isn't as fancy as the (much) more expensive Kaoke but it works well.

And di I mention it is nowhere near as expensive....?

I have the Jaws version as well and it works fine. Its not rocket science so shouldn't cost £80.

I had a Wunerlich one (i think it was) same workings as the Kaoko one. Couldn't get on with it, found it awkward to set and then only used it when you were doing a constant speed along the flat, its surprising how much tweaking you give the throttle when riding and don't realise til you set the lock on.

I have a frictional type control and whilst it's fine on the flat, it only takes a bit of wind and/or a slope to require a small adjustment to the throttle which rather defeats the object, although it's still better than getting bad cramp on a long motorway run.

I wouldn't be surprised if the water-cooled model comes with a fly by wire throttle which makes a proper cruise control an easy option for the manufacturer - like the one fitted as standard on the K1600.

3 of just bought these for a trip to Germany.Two of us were out today and had a play with them,they worked well, if a little strange at first to let go with your right hand.
At £10 each, it's a very simple solution.

I found they help by just allowing a looser grip on the throttle bar, or the odd short break for the right hand, on the GS enough to keep the vibes from killing my hand off on long stints.

I did find it was sensitive to gradients, and over a relatively short time would close down and slow up on the GS.

My Tenere seems far less affected by similar gradients, I tested it on my work commute on a 10 mile section of A43 (from Brackley to Towcester) and after setting it to an indicated 80 on the flat it crept up to 85 at most and slowed down to 76 on the steepest climb, the GS would have probably varied from 70 to 90 and after about 3-4 miles needing re-adjusting where it is starting to close up.

For a tenner you can't go wrong

O ring and go cruise

I use combination of caterpillar O-ring and the go cruise throttle control. I think the combination works really well. Since the O-ring is nearly free (it was free for me) and the Go Cruise is inexpensive, then why not try both? You will like it!
