Hi , has any one ells had their cruise control switch fall off ! I was just approaching the dolomites in Italy when my switch ( the one that slides that switches it on & off )parted company with the handle bar cluster but managed to catch it & pop it in my tank bag ,
Is it a easy thing to pop back in to position or is it a case off a new left hand switch gear.
Thanks,
Ian.

It certainly can't be bought separate (according to realoem parts lists) so certainly try to put it back on (bit of glue?)

If it’s still in warranty get it replaced whole unit on 1250 is about £250 plus fitting
Or if not try a repair but glue may not be strong enough

I'll have a go putting it back on , it looks like it just clips in some how , with a little ball bearing in the centre which looks like in locates in to a hole or some thing when you slide it on & off. To be honest it's always seemed stiff.

I've tried to get a better photo, on the under site the two slots have shanford ends & I think looking at the corresponding bits on the bike it looks like it "should" just clip in .
I'll give it a try wille it chucking it down hear at the moment.

No joy I'm afraid, it definitely looks like it just clips in on four plastic fingers that locate in the four slots in the sliding part.
Problem is there's no way to hold the part fitted to the bike as it just disapears in to the switch .
Looks like it will need the left hand switch cluster removing so as to hold the part while clipping the sliding part back on.
As I'm away in Italy I don't have the right torx bit to remove it & I would prefer to leave well alone in case when it's remove some thing ells might go tits up.
There is a BMW dealer quite close I might call in on the off chance to see if I get any joy & I'm shore when I read the used approved warranty I'm shore I read something about switch gear was covered.
It's not the end of the world if I can't get it sorted till I get home.
Has any one taken the left hand switch cluster apart ! if so was It straightforward with out thing's pinking off !
Thanks,
Ian.

Hi, just a quick up date on my cruise control switch , booked in at pidcocks to day for them to have a look , 30 minutes later new lhs switch cluster fitted .
I was quite surprised when one of the reception lady's came over and said all done new switch gear fitted as I thought it was just in for inspection and I would have to go back again when the parts came in.
Great service from pidcocks which I expected and for me the used approved warranty has already saved me a wedge of money.
Ian.
