Cruise control switch issue?

Not long back from a fab Alps trip on my 2014 GS.

Everything worked very fine and dandy except the cruise control.

It took me a while to figure it out but the activation sliding switch usually didn't go all the way "home", so cruise control wouldn't activate. It worked fine if I held it "home".

So I bodged it with some tape so it was permanently "home".

Will get it fixed when next at the dealers. But is that a new or common issue?

Oh and while on the subject I thought cruise control on a bike was pointless but man was it useful on the motorway, especially the 30 miles or so of average speed restricted road heading into Amsterdam.

I've not had an issue with mine, as long as you slide it along and then it clicks....if you just slide it along it won't work.

Had my switch gear replaced for a problem with the cruise control switch. I now leave mine switched on!

Get it fixed. Leave it switched on. Never touch it again. Its only there for legal liability issues.

Mine is being fixed today, kept turning itself off at a distance anywhere between 200 metres and about 3 miles. And that was even if I pushed the switch firmly over.

I put mine in the on position since the day I got the bike, and that's where it will stay.

Yes, my cc arming switch is always on. Wonderful.

I had mine replaced recently, there seemed to be a problem with the small tab switch.
Trying to turn CC on was hit & miss & when it eventually did turn on, the slightest touch of the tab (instead of increasing/decreasing speed) just turned CC off!
I expected to get the new design switch cluster (ESA button with the shocker symbol) but got one just like the original.
I hope it's not from a bad batch.

Cruise control was one of THE major attractions of the LC for me.

After last winters layup the decrease speed action on the CC no longer worked. At the service in April Wollaston replaced both handlebar switchgear sets, presumably to address known issues...

Well mines Knackered now , wont work unless you hold the switch firmly to the right . The whole switch seems a bit 2 bob . New one on order , but none off the shelf . Like you guys its pretty useful to have a PITA when you don't

BMW Dealer replaced mine in 15 mins. Was slightly different. Words vs pictures. But all well.

Mine is a very early WC. I was sad the other day when cruise switch went mad. Push it to set and it would take off!. Crappy little plastic toggle seems to be broken, so hopefully when new one comes from Germany that is of better quality.
Has there been an upgrade?

I had a Kaoko throttle lock on my TC which was easy to use if a little crude compared to switched cruise control.

Use it all the time as my 'pit-lane' restrictor button, when going cross country, I roll-off the throttle when entering village limit signs and hit the cruise to hold my speed legal while cruising through. It saves having to keep focusing on my speed which can so easily creep up past the limit if I'm not checking it. If there is a traffic issue it cancels in a nano-second when you hit the brakes or clutch. It's very useful.

I bought one of those to put on my Fazer FZ1S before I bought my TE and to be honest, it was shit. It's like comparing a smartphone to a couple of tin cans with string !
