Culprit

Think I found my culprit ,my R100R has been running bad on the Left cylinder ,changed the leads and plugs checked the fuel was getting to the carbs still going rough, seen that Dyna coil for sale and pulled the coil pack off the bike and it looks like Ive found the problem I think . Brassmonkey bought the Dyna coil ,Fecker

Ran the bike with the ht leads switched and the left cylinder is still not fireing.checked the carb everything looks ok new plugs and leads seems to be sparking ok .Gave it a compression test (cold and the left cylinder did seem a bit down on the running o/s cylinder but not a massive amount ,Ive checked the clearences they seem ok any suggestions would be appreciated ,r100r 27000 miles been lying up a while.

Sounds like the carbs need a good clean.

Just Humour me here..

Get bike on center stand.
Take off carb intake to Airbox rubbers.
Start engine, on the one cyl if it will..
Then using a syringe squirt a bit of fuel down the non firing inlet..


You may be a victim of the dreaded blocked jet syndrome
Or the more common split inlet rubbers twixt carb and head..


OF Course, if the plug is getting wet, kindly disregard the above

What about a split diaphram on the left carb? although I suppose it should still idle.

Ive had the carb off and checked the main jet and the pilot blew through them both and checked the diaphram all seems in order and the plug does seem a little damp

Ill give Proffs idea a go and see if I get any life at the cylinder .Cheers

Did you swap the HT leads over or just swapped them at the coil?

got it Proff s wee trick worked bust into life with a little squirt ,believe it or not the lever on the floats had been bent up shutting off the fuel supply ,christ only knows how ,but it wasnt allowing enough fuel into the carb ,had it out for a run still needs a little adjustment so that its getting fuel but not overflowing .Thank Feck

Set float height as shown in Haynes manual, works for me, no leaks no starvation...
