I'v just had a 6000 mile service done at CW , could not praise them enough, not only have they done a great job,(as they should....but not all do) but everyone couldn't be more help-full,

The machanic spent his lunch time talking me through what he'd done, and made sure I was happy, Dave the owner told me about the Krauser rally in September, I have now booked, and convinced me to buy the BMW Navigator instead of the Garman,
What a salesman!!!!

So apart from being a bloody expensive day out, I'm more than chuffed....keep up the good work lads.

Andrew,

Yeah, sounds like it.... hope he gave you a very, very, very, very good price on the Navigator.... look at some of the threads under GPS and if it was not a good price get back and hassle them. Then you will see if they are a good dealer

Good luck...

I have been using CW for three years now and travel from Coventry to them.
They care - and are careful, I cannot praise them enough. Not only that, I get to play on one of their demonstrators.
They are after all top Ride survey dealer of the year - again.

Jenks:

Delighted you enjoyed good service from CW's they do have a fine reputation and Dave is a member so I'm sure he'll enjoy reading the praise.

Good service is worth paying for and driving to. It's the vlaue-add you enjoy there that I also enjoy from the boys who look after mine.

As to being convinced to buy the Navigator over a SPIII, clearly Dave is a VERY good salesman as IMO there is NOTHING in the BMW offering that makes it worth the extra £'s (there is an assumption here that you did pay extra £'s which might not be true). In fact judging by the problems in upgrading to V5 that some of the guys had and problems Gazza has had trying to use the hard-coded database of BMW dealers I'd go as far as saying it should be LESS £'s than the un-badged one.

Not that I'd pass up the opportunity of any of the dealers represented here to try and convince me otherwise ;)

Judge,

How right you are. (Congratulations.....we know it's your first time) , It is worth travelling to get good service, it's a 240 mile round trip to Dorchester,, but worth the hassel, even though I have SPC up the road, 30 miles, there ATTITUDE was CRAP, The saleman couldn't be bothered to get off his arse to show me the bike which was outside because it was pi''ing with rain, there work shop looks a mess, everything covered in sh't, and no one in there seems to give a toss. needless to say they don't get my bussiness. Although I believe that there parts dept' is well managed.

Vinds of Guildford, 35 miles away were car sales men, didn't seem to know the first thing about the GS. so I had concerns about there long term value.

So when you do find a good dealer it's worth my loyality,

Regarding the GPS, it has cost more than Randy Philips @ £800, on e-bay, but

1) it's insured on the bike (bmw Insurance)

2) has a two year warrenty

3)a non reflective screen.

4) and I know if I get ANY problems, CW will be there to help. so to my mind the extra £'s is well spent....... Dave told me so.

spc

Jenks,

Very surprised with your treatment from SPC, I have only found them first class, and I travelled from Cheshire to get my GS, if you go in again ask for Steve (sales) he is very helpful and puts you straight to the person you need for the job.

I am new to BMW bikes (october 2002), and as SPC were the nearest dealer to me (Isle of Wight) that's where i went. i found them extremely helpful and patient and never once pushed me into a decision (it was going to be a big move after owning 3 CBR 600's). After sales has been good, and Steve Crockett answers all my questions in full technical detail! I've not dealt with any other dealers (apart from South London M/C, who are superb with mail order items), so i can't make any comparisons, but SPC are OK for me.

I'm with you on SPC, but Vines do actually have dedicated motorbike men - Martin Pullen rides in on one every day - even in the pissing rain - I know, I saw him !
Their motorcycle director is Duncan something (is it Bell ?) who has worked at BMW Park Lane and Sawbridgeworth amongst others, so they do have people who know their bikes - just park down the left hand side of the building and bypass the frontdesk tottie and the wanky BMW cars, by using the side entrance straight into the bike showroom. I bought my GS from them and they knew enough about it to convince me - the fact that I think they underpriced it may have had some bearing on the sale as well !

I was back at CW on Friday, to welcome home Ted Simon. For those that don't know him, he is the writer of several good books, one being Jupiters Travels. Well he's back from his second around the world trip,@72 or is it 73, years young..... but he looks 50 the ba'tered.

While we were there enjoying CW hositality, Wally and his team MOT'd his bike, a "Special" that CW built a few years back. The last time it had a MOTwas when he left the UK three years ,and 50,000 MILES ago, the only thing it needed was a rear light bulb.

Hope my bikes as reliable?????

Andrew.
