Can anybody suggest a good pub with rooms near to or in Hawes? Would prefer not to have to leave the bikes on the street though.

I've stopped in The Buck Hotel in Reeth before which is about 10 miles away. They have a large garage where they let you park pushbikes and I assume they'd let you park a GS in there if you asked

Reeth has a good selection of pubs and a lovely ice cream parlour - I prefer it to Hawes

Alternative in Reeth is the Kings Arms (rooms refurbished last year) http://www.thekingsarms.com/

Just in case anyone does a search for accommodation in the Dales and comes up with this, we actually ended up staying in the Black Bull in Reeth, mostly because the other places suggested were booked up or couldn't do the singles at a sensible price.

It was utterly shite. Don't go near the place. We booked three nights but bailed out after the second and went over to The Lion at Blakey. What a difference...
