Hello Friends, I understand from their website that there are no motorcycle tolls on either bridge or tunnel at Dartford Crossing. Can a regular user tell me if there are special toll lanes for bikes (such as the Mersey Tunnels, where you keep to the left lane) or can you use any lane? Thanks for any help. RobA.

Just ride on through, no issue with lanes, barriers etc. Free of charge

Do remember that if your in another vehicle, failure to pay electronically will incure a heavy fine.

If you're heading north, stay in lanes 3 or 4. They regularly close 1 & 2 to escort tankers through the western tunnel.

I got a feckin' £70 penalty notice last week .... :blast

Compleeetley forgot to pay online after a day trip to my elderly folks in Suffolk.

Fuck .... !! That's a new front tyre .... Only myself to blame ....

The same happened to me on my last trip to brands hatch :blast goes to prove no good comes from a trip to Kent :P

I let one of my drivers borrowed a minibus for a trip down to Kent to pick up a cheap bed.

Got zapped both ways, not a happy bunny, and it would have been a lot lot cheaper to buy locally.

You can set up an account with a £20 initial deposit, and just add any vehicle you like to it on line, even for the occasional user it saves a £70 fine.

If yer going to Dover / Folkstone from up the M1 (nth of M25) its about 12 mile further to go around anticlockwise and there is no chance of being collared by the crossings french owned thieving bastords

Or just drop down the M11, follow your nose and go under the Blackwall tunnel and onto the A2. If your in a car/van and the M25 is screwed, its actually faster (although now the M25 around there is a little better because of the lack of pay booths on the Dartford crossing).

An occasional user of this part of the M25 ? .... It has not proved to be the panacea to the problems of tail backs they promised. More often it is now worse than before when there were pay booths. Friends living in Dartford / Bexley are often under siege as the local roads come to a standstill once the tailbacks start and people look to avoid them on local roads. Not sure about the Essex side, but I hear they are having similar issues.

It is the same as the improved 'Smart' Motorway section from J5 past Clackets Lane where the M25/M26 Merge. This was their second attempt at improving things, especially on the clockwise track. This is another limited success - it appears people travel from all over to breakdown in this section, then it is even worse than when they had three live lanes and a hard shoulder. Tailbacks at both of these sections are at least as bad as before the 'improvements'

IMHO.

Yep, guilty as charged, occasional user. Still, in that case it just re-enforces to try alternative options, and I'd rather do the blackwall tunnel than go round the other way. To be honest it used to be a regular trip as had parents in poor health in Kent, but havent been down much since the auto toll came in (I just assumed shirley it must have improved..clearly not..lol).

Must have been designed by the same cretins responsible for the "improvements" to the A1M at J6 northbound where the evening delays are now routinely worse than before. When I questioned the arseholes about this they said the work was to improve safety, which is contrary to the statement on their own website which said the work was to improve traffic flow.

Forgot to pay in time on my last two trips with the car, paid 48 hours later on both occasions and heard no more

As an occasional user i set up an account to prevent forgetting to pay when you do it's £1.60 each way
