My mate has just had one of these fitted.
How long can he leave it after a fully charged battary before its to run down to start.
IF he leaves it for longer than 2 days the light seems to dim alot but i think its because it goes into sleep mode ( so i think)

But he is off to New Zealand for 2 months . He could trickle charge it but he wants to turn the electrics off?

So how long can you give one of these Alarms before they get to run down to start? I am thinking of getting one myself so it would be a useful peace of info.

Banger,

Make sure your mate drains all his water off as well if he's turning the electrics/heating off for two months.

He could be coming home to burst pipes otherwise.

:)

Two days seems a very short time for it to go to standby.....Mine hasn't after 4 days (longest time inbetween rides so far)

Here's a suggestion......tell him he could just pull all the fuses in his box apart from the one supplying whatever circuit that supplies the charger......should be a tiny current anyway.

Or stick it in your garage??

Of course, being a good mate and all, you'll need to take it out for a ride at least once a week to keep it charged up and all working nicely ;) ;)

The datatool on my GSX-R used to drain the bike battery in about two weeks, sleep mode or not. I had to use an optimate to keep it happy.

I'g guess workshop mode would solve the drain problem but then it wouldn't really be alarmed - if it was me I'd leave the power on. Can't he just throw the circuit breaker switches (remove fuses) for the rest of the house and leave the garage live?

Adam :)

another idea

If he's got a spare car battery and can connect it into the bikes system he'll have a massive increase in the batteries capacity. This used to work for me when I kept a firestorm in an un-powered garage. If its sunny outside then a solar charger will help.

2 days is to quick for it to be going into sleep mode TBH a week would be quick.....

If it was mine I'd be checking that the battery is being charged etc...

if he's going to leave it for some time he'd be best of connecting it to a charger.....
