Dawn to Dusk

Was thinking about it, but have had next to no bike time this yr for one reason or another, so not sure I would be fit enough..

bandit

are you going to enter as a team ? 12 hr or 24 might be up for it.

Steve will be there doing the 24hr vet race in aid of charity, see press release below, please spare a pound for a good cause (details of how to do so on the bottom). Cheers

If you are entering the Big Bike 10 hour version then you should be OK as we don't really race against the enduro crowd. Our start is at 7pm, the same time as the 24hour enduro crew but typically there are not many entries. We then do 10 hours through the night (at our own pace) on straight forward trails and fire roads. There are no technical sections as these are difficult to marshal and negotiate in the dark - so it will be straight forward. We finish at 5am - a full two hours before the technical / enduro course opens so we should be well out of the way by then.

Sounds good ... and could be good fun !! I am entering big bike yes .. on a F800GS.

I am just contemplating putting some HID on the bike now, but don't want to do it just for this. I will just ride behind someone with HIDs :blast

Thanks for the info ... looking forward to it, see you guys down there !

If your lights are good then you won't need an HID - I have fitted an HID to my 990R - shouldn't need any additioanl lighting but I will probably panic before the event and buy a collection of lights ;-)

The trouble with following someone is you need to keep up with them!

With regards to the lighting we have very kindly been loaned a couple of lights from our sponsors, so if you do need to get kitted up then either contact:

P.S. We should have a Husqvarna gazebo in the pits so please call by and say hi.

I called into Touratech the other day and spoke with Nick and Slimbo and have been talked into entering this. :) Decided to go for the Big Bike Class and wobble around on my 1100GS for 10 hours from 7.00 pm until 5.00 am the next morning. Not sure if I can sneak away and get a few hours sleep in my Hymer during the night.:)

I'd better start preparing it this week. Looks like a new set of TKC80s might be needed. Luckily I fitted new spot lights recently so that should help.

How many others from here will be in the Big Bike class?

I am ... and 3 or maybe 4 of my mates at least. Still deciding whether I should take the 650 Xchallenge or the 800GS :nenau

Your all crazy :pullface:pullface;)

Funny that you should say that. I just noticed that my monthly meeting with my psychiatrist is down for Friday 26th August. :D I'd better change that date as I'll be leaving then to drive up to Wales for the event.

Probably helps to be slightly mad to enter this event. Being insane is so much more fun than being "normal".:)

Entered dawn to dusk but will watch u guys on the dusk till dawn

anyone doing it this year ?

Entered today doing the 12 hour 7:00am to 7:00pm Solo. Wondering how many litres of fuel to take:confused: Calculated I will need three family bays of chocolate though:)

List of all entrants now up on the web site. I'm number 767 which is appropriate as my 1100 resembles a wide bodied jumbo.:)

Only appears to be nine entrants in the twin cylinder big bike class so if I manage to survive it I might make a top ten finish!:)

Just noticed a certain Patsy Quick is alongside me. A real Dakar rider. Can't believe they let me in the same event as a real pro rider. A bit like letting me on the grid for the Silverstone MotoGP on my airhead. I just hope I don't get in the way of the fast riders.:( I might change my name to Sid Slow to be besides Patsy Quick.:D

At least I have decent lights on my bike, with two sets of spot lights in addition to the original headlight. I might be slow but I'll be well illuminated.:D

Anyone else who is there, please come and say hello. I'll be in the old Hymer and my bike with the 41lt tank is hard to miss.

Lucky 73 for me

I'm number 73 in the 12 hour veteran class, seems I may of entered this sport to late to make an impact if in my second year I am now a vet, anyway Number 73 for me which if you take off 7, the number of years my dog has been alive, divide by 3 for the number of children in my life, and take away 28for the date of my wedding aniversary you are left with my lucky number -6 !! must be a sign of good things to come!

The other bonus is that the BBRC finishes just as my race starts at 7.00am so I won't have to listen to them entrants moan "the rally was too dark, the race organisers at no point told me it could be dark between 19:00 and 7:00 am etc " :augie
