I noticed today that my low beam would not turn off even though I have my lights set to automatic. Anyone else ever have this?

It's broken? Read manual, take to dealers :) merry Christmas.

Yeah tested it thoroughly last night in a dark garage. I used a small light and the dash backlight goes on/off as normal and the headlight symbol also turns on/off.

Hmmmm sounds like there is a deeper problem that requires some dismantling, multimeters and can bus analysers. If there is sufficient ambient light on the sensor then the dip should turn off unless there is some software override mechanism that is not explained in the operators manual - have to admit that I haven't read it in detail, so I am stumped! Merry Christmas :)

It was working perfectly then stopped and about two weeks ago I saw the warning light come on in the dash but only briefly. My GS911 showed an unknown error in the XBCO but no one could tell me what it was so this must have been it.

This makes sense since the XBCO controls lights. Looks like a trip to the dealer.

Merry Christmas to you too mate.

It's unknown to the GS911 but would not be unknown to a dealer with the proper software. Hexcode need to reverse engineer the codes to display them properly and they said they haven't don't this with my firmware yet.

BMW don't use regular OBD2 codes.

I only know the error is in the XBCO controller and since it controls the lights it makes sense.
