Took my end can off today had a look inside at the cat(i was very tempted to remove it) has anyone done this im just a little scared that i wouldnt be able to get it all as there is a bend just before the cat
I'm guessing that you are trying to remove the cat from within it's housing.
I would buy a secondhand Y pipe from off of here or off ebay. It will be alot easier than cutting the cat in half removing the internals and then welding it back together (it's stainless which takes a bit of skill to weld).
Hope this helps.

According to his profile, shinobi has a 1200. In which case, the principle is still correct but the detail isn't. There's no such thing as a Y piece for the 1200 as there is for the 1150. The headers and collector are one unit, with the cat' located in the collector. The answer is to buy a new set of headers from Remus or Akrapovic. It certainly makes a difference to the way that the bike goes.....

I'm sorry, I just assume that everyone has the superior 1150
Ok admit the mistake but the theory is right so it's got ta be worth a C+.
I'll put it a different way, don't mess with the standard system, sell it and buy an alternative. Are we in agreement?
As for welding stainless steel, I'll leave it to the people that know. It's not something that I can do with a £20 argos welder. Basically the point was that it's more hassle than it's worth IMHO.
