De-unbelievable Problem

The TPS should be rock-solidly bolted to the throttle stub- surely there something wrong there. Also, when you replaced the battery, did you reset the throttle position travel measurements afterwards?

It is bolted solid to the throttle body but the throttle body is not soildly to the cylinder head..........and throttle reset has been done to death.

It's only a simple potentiometer, eg a wiper arm and variable resistance contact track. I suspect the arm has worn a groove in the resistance track through use, causing changes in resistance if pressed into/pulled out of the track along the axis of the operating spindle.

Basically, what I'm trying to say is that the TPS is internally worn and needs changing.

I suspect that you could be right.............

One thing I did notice was that one of the fuel breather lines had got stock behind the air snorkel and it appeared to be squeezing it, this would have happened on the last air filter change. It was very shortly after this air filter change that this problem started to happen.

Also, the spark plugs, the primary plugs are a good colour but both the secondary where sooty

+1 for TPS If you have access to a GS-11 or a friendly dealer plug the bike in and watch the TPS sensor reading as you push/pull it. If the reading goes up and down its fecked. If the reading goes sharply high it could be a bad wire. If it does nothing then it is something else but probably in that area. You could probably do it with a good digital multi meter as well.

Alternatively, maybe the bike just doesn't like you or you have an electrical fault caused by the conrod cutting the ignition wire!

Has anyone said Lambda sensor yet?

OK, it's yer Lambda sensor (and you've got a semi-knackered tps)

Right lads, knuckle down now and listen.........

After stripping down, checking every sensor (I could), cleaning spark plugs, checking torques values, cleaning air box and K&N filter, checking throttle splitter box, checking stick coils with DMM, throttle reset and setting valves and rockers, then putting the blasted thing back together. I've come to the conclusion that I had caused the problem to begin with.

A few months ago I did a full service, fluids, filters, plugs, valves, rockers and altenator belt.

The problem started almost immediately after this service, but I put it down to the fuel pump controller, so I replaced it with the new black type controller.

Had my local guy check the carbs for correct balance (perfect), he also plugged it into his G911, only minor faults showed, parking light and battery. He cleared the fault codes and away I went.

This wee problem would appear every now and then, but I was always able to get the bike going again.

It happened again on Tuesday evening to I decided to take a better look.

This was my mistake, after that service, when I put the air snorkel back I trapped the tank breather hose behind it, the pressure from the snorkel pushed on the hose narrowing its inside diameter (bit like hardening of the arteries) this prevented tank from breathing properly. Local guy agreed, if the tank can not breathe then you will get the problems I was experiencing

So I'm hoping that this is what has been causing my woes, and that it is now fixed.

Thanks to all the Right Funny Men for all their help and advice.

There's the problem. Someones nicked your injection system and replaced it with carbs......:blast
