Dead GSA

Before we think of fuel, I thought the starter was not turning the engine - am I mistook?

If turning the engine, it is easy to pull out an injector and see if it is spraying fuel when cranking, with kill switch on, in neutral?

one recent post says it cranks starts and dies in 30 seconds...

Battery is main suspect, shouldbe replaced every three years anyway. Pull out each primary coil, you may have a faulty coil, they sometimess come apart in your hand. you need a gs911 diagnostic tool on the bike. have you checked the fuel pump controller or bypassed it ?
faulty lamda sensors can also cause starting problems.

Really?

My odyssee battery is around 12 years old now. It was in my bike when I bought it in 2008 (2006 GSA ) it has never let me down, never been on a trickle charger even when left from November until march. Are you saying I should have bought a new on every 3 years. Oh And it's been in for 100,000 miles.

mine died at 4 years 6 months..... and 15k miles, wouldn't take a charge or hold one, 14 months ago I popped of the clip on top and found 6 rubber bungs put 140ml of distilled water in and its as good as gold again

I think long 1000 mile trips in hot weather boiled it dry

I've done a lot of long trips 2,000 miles in a week or 4,500 miles in a fortnight in very hot weather. 46°c once in Austria and it's been good as gold.
Might be worth a look to see if it needs topping up. Does the top come off easily and how can yo tell how far to fill it if needed?

its designed to come off, but you aren't supposed to know you can top them up

inside AGM is what looks like white tissue paper (the glass matting) it shrinks back as it dries out and I guess the plates oxidise and its game over... the holes are 5mm across so you can't see in, based on my experience with others I was going to just fill till the top of the plate was damp. As I was filling with a small syringe its easy to suck and know where you are.

The incredible thing was how much each cell needed. I've done it on a 26kg Merc battery and they took less than 100ml each. The odyssee one took 140ml each cell on a battery that's 1/16 of the size. Wait 24 hours and check again for good measure

from being dead unable to take a charge and unable to crank the bike.... as soon as it has liquid in its as good as new putting out 13.2v and tripping to maintenance mode on the charger within seconds

the merc one is good as new 4 years on, in fact it got better over time (say six months from topping up)
