Hi all
I've been wearing IXS gear for the last few years - been great, totally waterproof even though not gore tex. Can't really fault it at all. The only area I struggled is in high temps and offroading (not major offloading, gravel tracks, green lanes etc ) - sweating like buggery and dehydrating. I have been round and round the various jackets and after a bit of advice. Use of the jacket will be for long trips, variable temps and some offroading (70/30 on/off).
Not sure whether to go down the forcefield shirt/legs route with an abrasion resistant jacket over the top (klim overland) but worried about sliding on tarmac and not sure how the forcefield fabric holds up on a long tour. Advantage is that I can wear mx top and pants if its all offroad that day and save the overland jacket if it pours down. Seems the fast and light option but not sure about the protection in an off on tarmac.
Alternatively, i could go with the rally jacket which fits well and seems good on venting/weather/sliding but obviously doesn't have the waterproofing baked. I discounted badlands as the weight was too much and thought i would boil alive when the going gets slow and tricky - i sweat like a pig just looking at ruts. Big plus with the rally jacket of course being that I can use it for
's
I know it's the topic with no definitive answer but if anyone has cobbled together a solution for this type of riding and can offer practical advice I'm all ears. Considering trips back through Europe, Alaska, off-roading in Spain over the next few years to give an idea.
Cheers
