Decisions decisions ?

You have pretty much made your mind up that the gs suits you,
and its easy to add the adventure screen, winglets etc
The important thing is not to drop it ,
you are running loaded so getting your feet down being slightly shorter is a challenge on an adventure plus the extra weight,
My friend just bought the gs triple black 11 plate and added the screen and winglets and it looks good and rides well, and doesnt struggle on tank range
and is notably lighter than my adventure and lower on the standard seat with an even lower seat option if you need it
I prefer the adventure ,mine is an 11 plate but i dont take a pillion or use panniers, the tank does far more miles than your bum will take in the saddle and is heavy full, the lower seat wasnt very comfortable and drops you down into the bike more like the gs so i tiptoe which i am happy to do,
the running gear is almost identical, so its down to what fits you best,
good luck,,,,,roamer
thanks roamer, your advice appreciated, we been at dealers this afternoon
the triple black is the one for me as a standard gs, thanks for response

I came from sports bikes and didn't want the extra weight of the GSA so bought a new GS triple black I liked the look of the spoked wheels, no way I'm taking it off road.
thanks for picture, looks great in triple black and is one for me ....
me too off sports bikes, last tourer was blackbird, but keeping my zxr6

I think it looks horrible - but only 'cos I'm still trying to work out if I can afford the repayments on one or not! :drool

I always find if you stare long enough at a bike in the dealers that is your object of desire they become cheaper and more affordable :D :thumb2

Seems a good way of thinking to me :thumb2 Sadly the bank statements also require occasional looking at!

Getting back on topic - nice bike! :augie

well the way I look at it ..im over half way in my life, kids growing up and its about time I did something for me...theres a lot to do, a lot to see, I have loved bikes all my life and its time I got being busy seeing europe on a bike, with a grand in your hand from bmw will help me on the way. Thanks for your thoughts, this forum is the dogs danglies for help and advice.

thanks again for the picture, the picture along with the earlier post from roamer has made my decision. time to get busy

I picked up my new Rallye today and love it, managed to turn the 25 miles back from the dealer into just over 200 miles to get home.

The "bung" from BMW certainly helped sway me as I have always been a triumph man. There was a bit of piss taking today as I turned up to collect my Rallye with Triumph Gloves and a Triumph T-Shirt along with 1 piece Crowtree's.

ON/OFF ROAD

I certainly didnt buy my GS to go off road, Im on my second now in 3 years and dont see me changing any time soon, fantastic bike, if you want spoked wheels they are an optional extra if you dont go for Triple Black, £350 .
Like these.

I agree with Wapping.

As for GS Vs GSA I personally prefer the lighter feel of the stock GS, as to off-roading I have taken sports bikes along unpaved roads and bumpy gravel tracks (two up with luggage) and I am sure a stock GS would be plenty for most people unless your really going around the world.

Must admit I am envious of the GSA's tank range and larger luggage, but only when I am low on fuel and the jealousy fades at the first set of bends as my lighter lower stock GS scythes through them so elegantly.

Quite liked the look of the £1,000 myself, but seeing as it has to be tied to BMW finance they soon get the bloody grand back in interest!

If they were offering a £1,000 cash back I may be tempted myself, may even happen as I bet with the new Triumph and Honda stealing sales BMW may start having to do some more deals if they don't want them piling up in a warehouse like the Tenere's.

Though I suppose if your going to buy on finance anyway £1k off ain't to be mocked.

Good choice fella, the spoked wheels do look lovely, word for warning though, if you plan on using it all weathers and are used to cast alloys on sports type stuff the spokes are a bitch to clean especially around the rear wheel hub, they are not easy to get to and if neglected probably look tatty well before painted wheels would. Worth it for the looks but a pain to clean, but a fair trade off imo.

I think they call that "thinking outside of the box" :D:thumb

I think it's called not worrying that there might not be a dealer within walking distance.... and getting on with it, in order to see behind :D

In the background you will notice a really brave bod who has passed up on a BMW and risked all by riding a Honda. These are very rare in adventure circles.

Wimp!

Pyrenees. Traveled back to London and then beyond....

And this month's MacGyver award goes to... Wapping.

Note to self: Add various kitchen utensils to existing emergency kit (cable ties, duct tape, hammer, mobile phone, BMW emergency services number, Kit Kat for while I'm waiting for them to turn up).

Get one of these.......

You know it makes sense:D:beerjug:

I too ordered a Triple Black yesterday!! the £1000 hand out from BMW plus a free Top box was hard to turn down.

Current bike is a Tiger1050, full Maxton suspension and fully loaded, great bike but ......but.....I wanted a GS, the triple black looks the nuts I think, I didnt want the extra bulk of the GSA, and having a sportbike upbringing I like the more agile feel of the normal GS...

Took the new Tiger 1200 out first, just didn't click with it if I'm being honest, didn't feel right, I'm sure it will be a great bike and in a couple of years once they improve on the new design, but for me right now, GS it is!

Absolutely cant wait, It will be run in by the first weekend... :beerjug:
