Deer me....only a matter of time

Bike now at Bahnstormers Thames Valley...who have so far been brilliant.

Hmm if any of the Thames Valley team were working at Alton just over a year ago then they have experience of deer impact damage as that is where mine ended up. Again the Alton team were very good.

My GS was fixed - but I suspect it may have been close to bye bye old bike hello new.

Glad to hear you are OK.

EDIT: This is also the second one recently on the forums

Glad you are ok

I ride at night alot these days and often come across Muntjac deer in couple of places on the roads to my girlfriend's place, I keep my eyes peeled and slow right down because I have been surprised more than once by the daft critters crossing the road in front of me.

V glad you're OK and walked away. Deer are always a worry in the wooded areas and one just hopes you'll be lucky. Great review of all your kit too. Take care :thumb2

Thanks for all the kind words...

To answer Shep....dunno mate, depends why you smiled! All I know is that whilst I was lying in the road wondering what day it was this guy was holding my head whilst the paramedic was doing his stuff, reassuring me. Once discharged from the ambulance I then sat in his car for an hour talking bikes whilst we waited for recovery to turn up. I know it is his job but he did it with grace, humor and professionalism.

I've got a deer whistle on the Donkey, and it works 100% as I haven't hit a single deer since I put it on:thumb2

It also works with camels, bengal tigers, lions, aligators, emu, ostritch, elephants, and every single variety of bear, as I haven't hit a single one of those either.

However, it does NOT work with wabbits, badgers, foxes, pheasants and pedestrians, but if you hit them fast enough, it doesn't really matter too much.

I think Sgt Bilco has one as well, and I can't remember him hitting any tigers either.

Rush out and buy one if I were you:thumb2

I hit one once several years ago doing about 90 but lucky for me it wasnt too big and the headlight just hit its head and my speed threw it away but it did a lot of damage and put the sh*ts up me at the time. Glad your OK

I think a round of applause is also deserved for having such an understanding wife. Mine is convinced about my inevitable demise under the wheels of some unforgiving steel monstrosity, so adding the fear of a four legged contact would simply up the ante to a hysterical level that only a dog could hear. She's promised to divorce me if I die. erm....:blast

Top wife you have there, sir, get thee down to your local GSA-providing place of refuge fast. Try strapping an already clobbered deer to the front of the GSA as a safety precaution - the chance of having two on there at once being statistically almost unheard of.

Like your style....was watching the Blackadder 4th scetch with Baldrick and carving his name on a bullet....chances of here being two bullets with his name on it....

Got me to hinking...If I also attach the front bumper of a Volvo on the front I will be almost invincible!!!

As regards my wife and her enthusiasm to get another bike....I wonder whether the high level of life insurance I have has anything to do with it!!
