Deerskin Gloves

I had read a few times over the past few years that in the States they have a bit of a thing for Deerskin Gloves.

I was over there with work recently and found a pair in California BMW. The make is Malcolm Smith Racing and they are superb - light and very comfortable, particularly good for Summer use.

They were $29.00! and I found them on the web at

Have also seen something similar in the Aerostitch catalogue, which if you have not got is worth having just for the read. They are at

Also bought a pair of BMW sunglasses which are very good if a little pricey - very clear and not too dark for riding. I think the part number is 72607667760 (could be the dealers number?). $69 in the US - not sure if avail or cost over here.

Actually, have to agree, very nice. Thinking seriously about bringing some home myself. Just got Aerostich catalogue as well. Trying desperately to control the urge to buy lots of things from it.

I work for HP - used to get to the Bay Area pretty often (lived there a couple of times). In the current climate my visits are much less frequent - August was my first for two and a half years. Where are you and have you bought a bike?

Live in Cheddar & work in Bristol for Sun Microsystems. I have an R1150GS which I use to ride into Bristol or to HQ in Surrey. I'm currently on a 3+ week trip to Washington DC and the Bay area. Like you I've been here lots of times (11 times this year) and I also lived here for a while.

Are you going to join the south west lot on a run soon? I'll miss Crewkerne as I'm stuck out here until next Thursday

I have been to Crewkerne once (June or July I think) and went to Princetown last weekend.

I am going to try and get a long to Crewkerne more often, so hopefully see you there.

I have a pair of said aerostich deerskin gloves and they are indeed excellent though I could have got a 1/2 size smaller - they stretch. Kind of match the yellow of the bike too, which is slightly cool. OK with the heated grips in cold weather - but really hot weather gloves.

Get yourself down to "ARCO" Industrial outfitters for some mandarin Yellow lined or unlined loaders/drivers gloves. they say one size only but there's always a good variation. At £11/pair I buy two or three at a time, they wash well and nobody's going to miss your hand signals now!

ARCO industrial outfitters do a very fetching Mandarin Yellow driver/loaders glove. One size only but there's a wide variation of sizes if you sort through the basket. they're comfortable and bed in quickly. They wash well but the colour fades. At £11/pair I buy three at a time and always have a spare pair on the bike. Nobody's going to miss your hand signals either. And no, they're not sold as bike gloves so make your own mind up about quality, suitability and construction.
