Right......its started getting colder........I'm sure we've been here before (probably last winter) but what improvements have people made to '09 GSA handguards ?
I changed my '08 GSA to a '09 one in May......not out of choice, but because a Lexus 4x4 bent the '08 and wrote it off....on the M4....
Now - whilst the new '09 handguards look nice - they only do what they say on the tin i.e. guard the hands and not provide much in the way of 'stopping the hands freezing into ice blocks and dropping off'. Now I realise they are only supposed to do the former but I'd quite like them to do the latter also..
I'm assuming they changed the design to prevent the '08 hand-guards from operating the clutch or (more importantly) the brake lever when hit/knocked out of true ?
The problem I seem to get is the tips of my fingers, not the hand. I guess the air flows under the handguard and catches the end of the fingers as they point backwards, folded around the grips ?
So.....anything 'after-market' ? I remember seeing a couple of cardboard additions to the grips but I ride >100miles/day and in any condition - so they need to withstand the whole winter - not just the first week. Whilst the 'mitts' might be the most effective.......there not as pleasing to the eye (sorry....I'd like the best of both worlds
)
Any piccies people could post would be appreciated.....
Yes......I know we have a search facility......but thought the time of year might be good to have all ideas in one place ?
