Just received a letter from THUS plc saying they have purchased Legend Communications PLC (my ISP)

THUS are the mother company of Demon (another ISP)

Demon are offering an alternative service to Legend, cheaper with faster connection etc with a seamless switchover from Legend

Anybody heard of them, opinions?

I've used demon both privately and commercially in the past and always had good reliable service and helpful intelligent customer support when I needed it.

Haven't had it at home for a number of years now but had it at work until about three weeks ago. (only reason for switching was we needed a symetrical line and BT were unable to provide one. NTL could and did us a deal which included ISP services)

I've got Demon for ADSL at home. Their technical support in the evenings can be slow and while they try to be helpful they are rather limited.
Their customer service sucks dead dogs and watch your billing for the first three or four months as they have a habit of 'forgetting' to take the money from you then demanding payment with somewhat hostile tactics and short timelines.
Getting moved away from them can also be problematic with them forgetting to cancel direct debits and contracts but terminating lines before agreed dates.
Overall, I'm satisifed with them now that everything is running but don't expect them to be 'user friendly'

I've been with demon since the early 90's, and can honestly say that there is difference between many of the ISP's.

Demon are probably better than most - coz I've had little complaint compared to some of my friends who have used other suppliers - and suffered all sorts of problems..

The benefit for me was that there was unlimited email addresses, which was useful when I used them for work related stuff.

They aren't the cheapest, but I've seen more expensive providers too.

It's always a worry, when the change is effectively enforced, but you can always vote with your feet later -if you feel the need.
