Ask the sales bod at your dealer, it is their job to advise and relive you of ££££
Yes agree, obviously speak with your dealer, but only after you have formed a view of what you would like/not like. Your discussions with dealer will be more informative after that.

Right...

I'm struggling a bit with the configurator. I've emailed the salesperson that I'm dealing with, but would appreciate any thoughts here.

It's not clear to me how the TE differs from the base model, whether it just includes some packs that could be chosen anyway or if it has some other differences.

However, if I start with the TE then I am not offered any acceesories on the configurator page, so can't see how to order

Wind Deflectors
Front wheel cover extension
ConnectedRide Smartphone Cradle
Extra Socket

Or whether the sports suspension and height adjustable suspension are two different choices, or can be combined.

Also I'd like to know if I am able to add the "Option 719 Shadow Billet Pack" onto the trophy model (I don't want a green bike...)

And, one last thing; My 1200 with the standard seat set in the higher of the two positions is spot-on for me in terms of height. Can anyone comment on whether this suggests i need the standard of the high choice of comfort seat on the new bike? Reading the heights isn't really helpful, as they are slimmer on the new bik, so I suppose some riders will be able to choose a higher seat than on the old bike.

Use the configurator on a laptop or bigger screen , it's easier.
The pricing of the base model finishes up at about the same price as the TE if you add the usual options people want, so I just finished up concentrating on using the TE as the starting point.
Re seat - if you are adding the adaptive height control it's worth thinking about the high comfort seat. I came from a GS with standard height seat and the 1300 is fine with the standard seat but I think I would have been more comfortable when moving with the high seat as the knee angle would be more like I was on the GS with standard seat. When going slow or stopped the adaptive drops the suspension and id be fine with the high seat. Best to go to a dealers and sit on one, ask if it it has adaptive suspension or standard though & which seat it is. Then judge yourself remembering the the adaptive drops the bike 30mm, so if it has adaptive it will already be dropped when it's sat in the showroom.
P.s. front wheel extension is just the beak extension bit, not sure I'd bother with that. Sports suspension is a longer suspension shock mainly intended for off road use so I would forget that unless you are going serious enduro stuff :-) . The configurator should let you choose both adaptive and sports suspension I wouldn't think??.

Choosing sports suspension removes the height adaptable suspension, so it suggests that that’s either / or.

What’s strange is that the entire accessories page is missing when I select the TE option. I had both models open in adjacent windows and it’s missing on the TE.

Hopefully the dealer is still able to order them.

High seat with sports suspension was too high at standstill for me in the shop, I’ll see where I can sit on one with a high seat and the adaptive option.

Adaptive height control (ie lowering ans you slow down) and sports suspension are mutually exclusive. You can’t have both together. Careful with terminology as you also have the option of dynamic suspension pro, which is available with standard or sports suspension.

Doesn’t look like you can have the 719 billet pack without going green, but I didn’t really look into that myself.

FWIW I went for the high comfort seat just to give me that slightly straighter knee when riding, and hopefully I’ll find out Thursday that that has worked.

I also went for the front wheel beak, purely for cosmetic reasons, but it appears from photos that either my dealer just hasn’t fitted it yet, or has forgotten about it.

I know BMW Motorrad were told by at least one person (they even replied) that the configurator didn’t show accessories back in November when I ordered mine. Maybe their software team work as quickly as the team getting panniers/top boxes sorted.

Other thing to consider are the high handle bars. I went for those as it felt more like my old 1250gs position on the bikes they had in the shop at that time (feel less down and over the front of the bike). Don't regret choosing them but may have been able to achieve the same with the risers. They're only about 30mm higher.

I went for adaptive ride height and high seat, 32" inside leg and i can flat foot comfortably. I find it a lot easier to manouver than my 1250. I also got enduro pack which includes bar risers and adjustable foot rests for better comfort.

So far the standard bars on the 1300 aren’t making my shoulders ache so I’ll wait and see if I need risers or not

I collected a demo bike last weekend. Yes I had to make a compromise from what I my perfect spec would have been however I saved over £3000 and that’s a lot to me.

My advise would be to spec it to what you want, there are deals to be had if you are prepared to ring around.

Good luck 👍

Yes, I’d have been happy to compromise slightly for such a big saving, but not just to get it two months early given how long I might own it for.

I think I’ve settled on the choices now, and (inevitably) am going for nearly all the bells and whistles.

I’ll be getting the phone cradle rather than their GPS (comments welcomed on this…), all the pro modes, height adjustable suspension, not the enduro pack, not the luggage, but yes to the luggage pad instead of a pillion seat and to the top box rack.

If I can get the enduro pegs as an option I’ll want those too.

I would have opted for the enduro pack given how much you get for the cost, compared for example by just adding engine crash bars. The only negative, for me, is the traditional front indicator stalks as opposed to those in the hand guards, which I prefer.
Lastly, what wheels have you picked. For cleaning and durability, I would put the forged alloy wheels over spoke, that can be a beast to clean. 👍

I really want the gold wheels, so have opted for spoked.

I’d prefer gold rims on the forged wheels, but don’t know if there’s any way to get them painted or powder coated to match the gold that the spoked ones have.

I’ve a good powder coating place near me in South London, they matched the wheels on my car to the infantile racing stripes (in Lamborghini Bronze), so I’ll see what they say.

Where is good for powder coating in south london please…. I’m in north Surrey / south london, and could do with a good recommendation for powder coat.

Thanks
