while trying to diagnose a problem with a customers vehicle today I scrolled to far on the snap on scanner and found a motorcycle section, it list models including our range of bikes. ill need to get a Ebay 10 pin to 16pin lead. has any one used the scanner? if so what features does it have?

it doesn't work - its a total con - EACH brand of bike needs a new cable from the plug to the scanner...

EVEN ODB2 compliant bikes (like a 2019 K1600) will NOT communicate to do any work - without a proprietary BMW bike cable at circa £120

THEN you go with the round adapter to a an older K25 and it needs yet ANOTHER specialist BMW old bike cable for another £120

so with their scanners from £3000 to £9000 and another £250 on cables it can do half what a £40 motoscan app can do .... utterly brilliant

its a great business model - they sell 6 units to people that should have bought autel and the motoscan guy sells 110k licenses and makes £20 on each

Bike data cables needed
DA-5 Data Cable EAX0068L01AG (early BM bikes I think…)
DA-4 OBD-II Long Data Cable with Light (9ft) EAX0068L26A
HARLEY-DAVIDSON (HAR-2) EAX0072L04A
BMW (BM-2) EAX0072L02A (OBD2 BM bikes I believe)
INDIAN and VICTORY (POL-1) EAX0072L05A
DUCATI (DUC-1) EAX0072L06A
SUZUKI (SUZ-1) EAX0072L07A
HONDA (HON-2) EAX0072L08A
KAWASAKI (KAW-1) EAX0072L09A
KAWASAKI (KAW-2) EAX0072L10A
YAMAHA (YAM-1) EAX0072L12A

yet magically either of the std car cables (including the DOIP one) all work on the BM cars !!

I don`t understand why the snap on scanner will not work although with limited functionality.
The hexheads use Keyword protocol ISO KWP2000 as do many cars.
As for special cables there are only 4 wires as BMW only use the K line an not the L line.
I have wired a 16pin J1962 ( OBD2) socket removed from an old car and wired in as well as the 10 pin BMW socket .
The 10 pin BMW socket for my GS911 and the OBD2 socket for my Innovate LM2 and OBDlink MX+ for motorscan app which is my 3rd go to option.

they deliberately built it like that - buy the cables and you 'effectively' pay for the software they gave you FREE

I rang up support and ranted when I found out even the OBD2 bikes can't do ANYTHING on either the std car or the car DOIP cable - usually European techs based in IRL do the dev on euro brand software - but these guys had, had NOTHING to do with it - they got back and said USA say that's just how it is - I said well I'm not playing that game...

the last update release rewrote ALL the bike software inside the tool and I thought maybe OBD2 bike's would work - but they still don't
