Diesel?.... what the f***!!

...... - is there something that can cope with diesel & petrol? - aside from the multi-fuel stoves from Primus/MSR, etc... :thumb2
GB

The Challenger II Main Battle tank can reputedly run on anything flammable. Two-stroke diesel with variable compression ratio innit?

- can anyone recommend an easy way to tell the difference?

Smell - Get hold of a bit of both and compare them.
Colour - Petrol is more Orange colour while diesel appears a blacker
Viscosity - Rub a drop between your fingers. Diesel feels more oily
Volatility - Blow on your fingers - Petrol will feel colder. Drop a drop of each on something. Petrol will evaporate more quickly.
Knowledge - know the local names for Petrol & Diesel and ask the guy selling it.

The Lotus Omnivore experimental engine - CR up to 50:1, lean burn, 2 stroke, variable exhaust trapping valve, spark plug only used under certain operating states. Will run on anything from oil to natural gas

Gas Turbine - natural gas, light and heavy distillate oil, naphtha, crude oil, residual bunker oil, steel mill gases (CO) - anything that burns basically.

When Land Rover sell the Defender, they have an optional extra of another fuel map so the vehicle can be run on "Low grade" fuel, especially for overlanding types.

Ahh, yes. The good old fashioned 1150GS has an optional low grade fuel relay. :thumb
