Thing is when this new one comes out there will be even more of well they don't make em like they used too crap:blagblah

Anyway I have both 1150 and twin cam and if you are thinking about using them on a commercial basis, keep it simple, 1150 no abs. Just easier to fix, progress sometimes just does not favour the owners.

I know i have contradicted myself but it's friday I am pissed and I can't get over my 1150 has done over 130,000 and if my 1200GSA does that then I will say get a 12 and f@@k the old 1150.

And an old git like me:beer:

Owned a 1999 R1150 gs for 9 years and now a 2011 R1200 GSA for 7 months, technically the the 1200 is a much more advanced bike BUT not by a long chalk a better bike.

Still prefer the 1150 though it was heavier and slower, as standard it handled much better and just had the wow factor that seems to be missing in the 1200 (it has no soul)

1150 owners have friends. 1200 owners have aquaintances.

........................................................................................................................

Given the choice, would you prefer to buy,

A cave. Solid, dependable, a tad draughty.

A georgian stone built house with its draughty windows, loose roof tiles, inefficient insulation, high ceilings, large rooms and wooden floorboards ....

A modern timber framed, lightweight, super insulated, plastic double glazed, chipboard floored, compact roomed, computer designed Barratt home ?

Most of us would choose the second one wouldnt we ?

The second example could be improved with modern fitments to reach an acceptable level of habitation, but will never be as efficient as the third example, but it will always look nicer, will always be more desireable, and will probably last longer.

The cave can never really be altered to suit modern expectation without extensive work and will always be a cave, with limitations.

Cave ... Airheads
Georgian home .... 1100-1150
Barratt ..... 1200 variants.

For the record, I live in a modified 1200 home. Its never goin to be a classic ... even with mahogany bling.

My thoughts too :-)

:rob on my 2nd 1150 thought about getting the 1200 but it wouldn't handle taking it to the same place's as the 1150 :augie

Why did you waste so much time writing that utter shite:nenau

1150 and 1200 in my garage both great bikes:thumb

1150 is the last generation and behind the 1200 in every aspect............. simples, but that is exactly what you'd expect it to be.Simple really.Would you really buy a 7+ year old bike to use as a work tool :blagblah

Den is right though :-)

Height may also give you a problem on the 1150.

I was not comparing the 1150 to the 1200 but that these big GS bikes are tall and can cause people unfamiliar with them to be unstable. As a trek business you may want a lower bike to prevent expensive "falls" from your customers.

Because the shiteIwrite is an accurate depiction of the differences between the three different types of GS's.

Incidently, I take so much time to write shite because good shite is what used made this forum interesting, as opposed to most of the watered-down sillage which comprises a lot of the posts here nowadays.
I try to squeeze out quality shite and ...as all good shites are ... a pleasure to take time over.

Thanks for the feedback. This bike will be for me, to be used for guiding other GS owners, and showing them around the trails, tracks, and roads of this bit of Southern Spain. I already do this with my own small fleet of Suzuki DRZ's.
The height won't be a problem.

Then have a look at both GSA bikes they have a commanding presence.
