Tried to do some research, but not found a lot of info. Having said that, I'm fairly rubbish on computers.

If anyone can either tell me the differences between a 'Base' model and 'TE' model of the 2016 1200GS Triple Black, I would be most grateful.

The base model is back to basics (non ESA suspension etc). From new, they could be ordered as 'base' or base + the various options, e.g. I have just bought a base 1250 GSA and added heated grips, cruise control and fog lights. The TE has a lot of the options as standard - but depending on year of production, not necessarily 'everything'. It will definitely have ESA and rider modes (including dynamic) though. Base, just has rain and road.

I saved the 2017 official info which I have pasted below:

In 2017, the TE was as follows:

R 1200 GS TE • Keyless Ride • DTC • LED Headlights • Daytime Riding Light • Hill Start Control • Gear Shift Assist Pro • Riding Modes Pro – Inc Dynamic Pro, • Enduro and Enduro Pro • Chrome Exhaust • Heated Grips • Tyre Pressure Control • LED Indicators • ABS Pro with Dynamic Brake Light • On-board Computer Pro • Cruise Control • Preparation for GPS • Dynamic ESA • Hand Guards • L & R Pannier Fastenings

In 2017, the base was:

R 1200 GS • Available in: Light White – Black Storm Metallic • Hand Guards • L & R Pannier fastenings • ASC • Riding Modes Rain and Road

If you're interested in a TE Spec Triple Black GS I will be putting mine up for sale soon

Bog stock and an embarrassingly low 3000 miles :P
