Disabling DRLs with a GS911?

I would like to see the tail / brake light on the respective rear indicator turn off whilst it is indicating (like the fronts do). I actually like them as tail lights, I just worry the indicator function gets a bit lost, especially when braking.

For the bikes with the revised indicators from MY 21, with GS-911 beta you can turn off the front cruising lights in the indicators. But for the rear, the red lights in the indicators are tail lights. if I switch on the rear cruising lights it uses the amber indicator lights, I think this would just confuse things further. And you can increase or decrease the intensity of the front running lights.

So I assume this is coming soon.

I definitely do not have this option on my GS-911 (with the most up to date software as of today)

Ah, no wonder I couldn't find it, I'm not a beta tester. No problem, Ill wait for the next software revision to be issued. Thanks to everyone who responded.

April 2024, it seems Ilexa have written code to disable both the rear running lights, and the front running lights that are so controversial.
As I type this, not available to me as an update, but coming to a GS911 near you soon
Anyone else have it yet ?

It’s available now , but I find the options confusing and need to try it for real ;

I did mine at weekend. (New 2024 GS-A) Fronts were easy, rear took a little bit of trial and error. Now have std indicator function on both with old style centre rear running lamp & brake light.
Thanks for posting Stevede, been watching to see how people got on with the Hex updates 👍🏻

Any tips or easy errors to make when doing the rears, thanks ?

Did my fronts at the weekend think i may need to revisit the rear as not sure they are how i want them.

I set the rear cruising to disabled and intensity to 0 is that all you can do? red light in the indicators are still on do i have to switch off day time running lights also??

The Hex GS-911 solution is going to be hard on the alternative plug-in solution. Their prices are likely to plummet, especially when folks
and businesses start to offer the re programme fix for a realistic price. I see in another thread that one company is offering the update for £30! Just a bit too far away for me.

Just need someone closer to South Derbyshire to start up and I'll be first in the queue!

I changed the brightness on my rears to 10%
So they stay on but when I brake it’s just the centre and my B6 that light do the indicators will be brighter than the rear drl

OK re-tried today, learned you can turn off the rear red indicator running lights but that leaves you with no rear night time lights.
Did a search on You tube and found (below) a good tutorial from Carl at Just the way it is.

I didn't realise that the rear central light is only a brake light. The rear night time lights are on the indicators.
I was hoping you could code the rear light to be a normal light and brake light.

If you want the rear central light to act as a normal rear (nightime) running light and a brake light you (at the moment) need to get a Weiser Technik EXT-Run-on Module BMW GS or as i have ordered a WEISER WIZARDS – BMW Multifunction Indicators Re-Sequencing Modules R1250 GS/A 2021+ (Reactivate Module Only) £75

Think this is plug and play and easier to fit than the quoted Run on module that taps into the cables.
Once fitted I'm hoping i can then zero out the red indicators and have them work just as yellow indicators.

On the Wieser web site seems to show that when indicating it auto matically cancels out the red running light, so may just use them as displayed.

Gs 911 will do the rear lght as well and make it operate as normal rear running light and brakelight.

@Jersey_GS do you not have the option in the GS 911 configuration menu to enable or disable “Additional brake light as running light”? I’m pretty sure this is the setting to achieve what you are after.
