So!the suns out! got a free day, think to myself couple of hundred miles of fun today:bounce1
and i literally got about a miles from the fuel station and the bike(06 GSA) started playing up
its kinda felt like it was running out of fuel, now the last few days when I've wracked it open to overtake its kinda stuttered before its set off which i just thought nothing of really:confused:
Now today it was joke feeling like it was being starved of fuel as well running really badly like if i didn't keep it rev'd it would die
i got to the fuel station filled it up with premium petrol
started it up fine!!!rode for maybe 2miles then again really bogged down felt like it was running on one, missing, struggling to get fuel. Just really agricultural i never stopped i just carried on being gentle with the throttle(i was in heavy traffic)then!it seemed to be fine again??i was in 2 minds weather to turn back but there was a clear bit of road coming so!on a open bit of road i gave it a fist full and it lifted off like normal no problems i was like wtf?? with that it started playing up again(just thought BOLLOX)so i set off back home
and here i am pissed off the 1st day off in ages and my not so "trusty steed" is now in my garage awaiting some attention
can anyone shed some light on what it could? ive done nothing different than normal i ride 365days a year its serviced but my own fair hands very regularly the last set of plugs were 5k miles
any help would be muchly welcomed

I'm no expert, but don't these bikes have known issues with fuel pump failing / corroding? At 11 years old, maybe its showing...?

Stick coils? - any chance to borrow some to check, think they cost about 100notes each...

Coils would be my first look at. Yes the fuel pump controller can fail if it doesn't have the new style (is it silver or black, there was a recall) but they fail and it stops usually. I can't recall any running badly because of it.

:UPDATE:
After moaning and feeling sorry for myself I've since been back outside to look at the bike i unplugged all the connectors to the PCIII to find one of the sockets swimming in water "happy days "i thought!cleaned it!dried it!ACF50'd it,put it back together and now the bloody thing want fire i.e. start!just turn over!
So I've disconnected the PCIII completely and da dar! the bloody thing started straight away!im guessing theres a issue with it(No shit sherlock)question?can they be tested? and how?
if it is fooked would i be able to take the map off of it and transfer it to another? or even a PCV?

I did notice when i manage to get it started when the PCIII was still all plumbed in, The lights on it were doing something odd
they were strobing slowly from the middle outwards and back again it did that for like 20 seconds and was running fine then went to its normal position and then started to run really badly and humpy with the revs hunting? switch it off and tried starting again. It wouldn't start. At that point decided totally remove it

Water in the PC connectors will screw up the signals. But to be honest water in the oxygen sensor connectors (PC or no PC) would also mess up the running.

Options -
Get a new Power Commander they are not at version V. Bu they are still a clunky add on that wont work properly without dyno settings.
Get it remapped. Google "UKGSer Hilltop" and sit back for a few hour's reading.
Get a pair of AF-XIED modules Google "UKGSer AF-XIED" and sit back for a shorter read.

Remap provides a completely new map so should be the most elegant option.

AF-XIED modifies the air fuel ratio to avoid flat spots created but keeps the OEM map. Users say they can't tell any riding difference between the remap or AF.

the only reason i ask about the map is coz my bike was only recently(Last year)set up on a dyno which i was more than happy with

Have you fully dried out the PC? It's not necessarily dead and thorough drying might revive it, removing any covers you can to let the moisture escape. This has worked with mobile phones.

Yes you will be able to get the map off it unless it's completely dead. The dyno guy will have a copy as well. No idea if you can put a III map on a V although you can still buy the III. Despite Bendy and his reservations I had great results when I had the 2009 with the PCV on it. I would do that way before getting the AF-XIED.

As above and throw it in a box of rice. Seriously it works, rice is really good at drawing moisture out.

Our lass has just gone mental.... "where's all me uncle Bens gone"? "Err no idea luv"
Shall report back in a few days lads cheers

I wrapped my connectors with self amalgamating tape. Also did the open ends on the O2 connectors. No water problems (to date).

However I can't fit baffles without it running rich. The PC defeats the ecu's ability to adapt to system changes.

Sent somehow.

The idea is you change the map so it doesn't run rich. Alternatively you can use the auto tune kit which will give you wide band adaptability.
