Phoned Battersea BMW today to pick their brains as to why my bike appeared so under powered on the Dyno last Saturday.
77 BHP, remus can and Y piece. The answer was that BMW state between 80-85 BHP, so when taking account of the variation in Dyno's readings, it seems my bike is probably about normal. Fair enough, so why disappointed?
Well, they also said that you have to make sure that the Dyno's fan hits the cylinders to avoid any damage to the engine from excess heat. Fortunately, my bike was only running for about 7-10 mins on the Dyno, and not all of that was on full chat, and I could feel the breeze on me as I stood beside the bike. Still, it could have buggered my engine had it been running for longer.
But above all is that fact that the Dyno chart read a Fuel/Air mixture of about 13.5-14, that the techy said was fine to run on all day, but Batterea man says, no, no. Best bet is to check plugs for colour, which I duly do on arrival home: white as a baby's arse!!
So now, after all that, its off with the remus, goodbye to the rorty note and hello standard can. Bollox.
So, skinned knuckles, £45 lighter, and a Dyno run that probably gave me a lower reading on BHP, could have fried my pistons and bores, and may have given me incorrect fuel mixture figures, has been over turned by a plug check. Luckily, I've only done about 160 miles with the Remus in situ.
AAAAARRRRRGGGGHHHH!!!!!!!

I reckon you should develop one made of platinum wire, stick on gold plated crimps and don't forget to put on a flashing LED and you'd make a mint
