Are the front discs supposed to move a little to allow for expansion etc? I always use the patented Hooky Totaltoss front axle stand but don't lift by the beak, I use the disc to grab hold and shoulder under the beak. I noticed yesterday that there is about 1 to 2 mm of movement in the vertical rather than side to side plane. Is it alright? Serious question BTW

Not totally sure that they are floating discs. Just been in garage to check mine..no movement at all.

I'd phone dealer first to make sure if mine had vertical play.

Just to be sure like.

It's called a floating disc. You will find this movement to be normal.

Cheers. I checked the manual and it mentions thrust washers so I guess they're there to accommodate that? It doesn't give value or tollerances though so far as I can see.

Note

As of model year 2006, the brake discs are fitted with rubberised thrust washers as standard.
The rubberised thrust washers can be retrofitted to older motorcycles in order to minimise brake squeal.
The thrust washers originally installed have to be removed and the new, rubberised thrust washers installed in their place.
